We will get 30 million for joe and this guy will cost 18. No idea if he is better or not. I can't help but feel joe has gone stale.

Yeah I know where you're coming from but to ship out a proven keeper who, OK doesn't have the best distribution.
Just think it's a drastic step when there may be higher priorities? .. Huh? what do I know? I'm not questioning the judgement of the best coach in the world here but unless he sees there's no way Joe could adapt a spell on the bench and some Pep magic in training might see Joe gain the extra strings to his bow?

What Joe lacks is what's most important to Pep in the goal keeping position. Neuer, Valdes, Ter Stegen, Bravo, and other goalkeepers who are brilliant at distribution, comfortable with their feet, and confident enough to accurately pass from out of the back have been doing it for years. Most we're trained as young lads to do more than just launch the ball when they are under pressure and subsequently played first team football that utilized these qualities. Joe was not trained this way nor does he have the natural footballing talent to be comfortable with his feet. Pep is a fantastic coach but was blessed to have Valdes (Barca trained) and Neuer (Schalke trained) as his keepers, who had been trained has boys to play the way he wants his keepers to play. Pep has never had to develop a goalkeeper and I believe it would borderline impossible to get a keeper like Hart at his age (29) to be comfortable under pressure to pass accurately to a CB or FB when the other team is pressing. His long ball distribution isn't good either and that is something all goalkeepers work on no matter what system the team plays. Joe is a really good at what he does well but if we want to dominate the PL and win CL we need a goal keeper who can do it all NOW and most importantly can play in Pep's system NOW. I actually like Bravo over Ter Stegen because it doesn't close the door on Gunn or Rulli (and Bravo is much cheaper and better at shot blocking). Gunn needs to go on loan asap though. Rulli kept a clean sheet against Barca last season, if he develops more at Sociadad he's probably the future #1 in a couple years when he's 26.

The fullback thing is part tactical.

Hart will never be up to scratch in terms of playing out from the back. He's not a young player. His distribution is poor even for a GK.

Watching Bravo now and he's what we need.
Exactly this, Hart is a top keeper who has made save after save & won golden glove many times through great defending as well but????

He is average at corners, free kicks & distribution many many times is wayward or in touch, the Euros was the last straw....

New keeper + another top defender (Vinny back fit) & Gundagun, Sane in the starting 11 & we will be just fine.

SIMPLE

Back the manager...

If all of this is true, then I really don't see how we get that much for him. It'd be a buyer's market as it would be clear we want rid.

I think Everton rang up earlier this summer and said they would pay 40! Sure I read it on here.

Mirror saying (yes I know, but fits in with the Bravo stories) that Hart has been told he can leave.

Look at the stats when he was at Real Sociedad, (see my earlier post), his distribution success and pass length were very similar to Hart's current stats.

Since joining Barca he does many much shorter passes and his passing success has massively improved.

Fair enough. I just know he has been a technically sound keeper for quite awhile. I remember when England played Chile a few seasons ago and Hodgson said he had never seen a keeper who was so good at passing and footwork.

The rumour is that Joe directly questioned what Pep wanted from his goalkeeper added to that if you look at Joe's performance against Arsenal he just continued to hoof it long invariably handing possession back to Arsenal. The fact that he didn't even try to do as the manager wanted leaves a big question mark over Joe's attitude. From Pep's point of view if he thinks Joe can't or won't play the way he wants then he is history, if Pep sees joe's behaviour as a challenge to his authority then Joe is history Pep won't shy away from big decisions no matter how unpopular they are with fans. Pep's only concern is the team and making it the best it can be. I hope Joe doesn't go but if he refuses to or can't change then maybe he only has himself to blame.

But that was before we had a replacement and he was deemed surplus to requirements. If Everton are the only gig in town, and we definitely need to get rid, why would they pay that much? Can see this one being a game of bluff right up to the end of the transfer window.
