Club Badge (merged)

But I'm not saying we are not part of Lancashire my point is we are Manchester City not Lancashire City and we sing about Manchester not Lancashire.

I feel Mancunian not Lancastrian my views are we are represent Manchester not Lancashire not England not the UK.

Can we all get something straight right now please? The rose is on the Manchester coat of arms. I don't care if some hillbilly wants to claim its from Lancashire. For me it represents Manchester & England. Plus Rosemary is an English name so that would tie in with us having the womens team. Kill the eagle! The rose must be reborn! (& im a hillbilly brought up in Glossop & Stockport then lived in Burnage).

How did you get in my wardrobe?

We should just have an MCFC monogram. None of the images we have ever had mean anything. The stripes belong to a 14th century family coat of arms, the ships never reached Manchester and stopped at Salford, the rose belongs to another county. If anything the eagle is the most valid image.

Took part in the consultation and my main point was to have the three stars removed! I can see us moving towards one of our more 'traditional' badges shortly.

Should have stuck with the old badge.. utd have never changed their badge..it's their identity..like the old badge was ours..some idiot decided let's have an eagle and 3 stars..that robbed us of our identity..and now it's we are going to change and modernise??? Just give us back our old identity..end of.
United have changed their badge on at least 3 occasions. In fact, United have worn more badges/emblems on their shirts than City. I'd be happy to do talks on the history of united's emblems. They've had at least 3 versions of club specific badge, plus the Manchester coat of arms, the eagle, and their own distinctive red rose emblem.

But the club statement is they might go back to an old badge, create a new one or leave it unchanged.

I'm pretty certain it didn't. I think some of the media said that, but it was always about finding out what elements mattered most to fans.

"Over the years, many fans have come up with their own designs of how they think a new badge could look and we are keen to establish from our Cityzens members, whether or not they feel the badge should evolve and if so, how." The OS announcement certainly leaves the option of no change open.

Yes, no change, but not 'going back' to an old badge. The message I was given when asked to take part was that this was about seeing whether fans wanted to keep with the current badge or to develop a different badge. That 'different' badge could be based on the element or elements that matter to fans but, at no time, was it said that this was an opportunity to simply bring back an old badge. There could be a modern version of any element or badge, but it's never been about resurrecting an old badge as it was. Sadly, some of the media suggested it was a case of 'which of these 3 badges would fans like' but they were wrong. That wasn't what this was about. This has been quite clear from the club - no change is possible, but it feels like fans want a change.

We also have the lion and unicorn on the coat of arms but I don't want any on a City badge.

That's a very helpful point Gary and those of us hoping to lose the eagle and stars may end up disappointed. A couple of other features which have not been discussed much on this thread are the choices of ship and shield offered in the consultation exercise. In each case we have been invited to comment on the suitability of the elements in the current design and the previous badge version. Subtle differences really and seemingly not so divisive but I wonder if anyone has a specific preference.(The other parts comprising the rivers, rose, stars, eagle and motto have only a single image up for comment.)

I went with circular, no Red Rose, lose the stars, lose the latin, keep the ship and add a few symbols of Manchester: quite like the bee and the cotton symbol. City Blue and Maroon. Indifferent about the eagle or the three rivers (which originally weren't rivers at all). Be interesting what we end up with.
