Club Badge (merged)

The Manchester Eagle seen us win 2 leagues 1 FA Cup 1 League Cup and the most prosperous time in our history the badge with the red rose on saw us deteriorate into our worse ever period under Swales

I would disagree the eagle was brought in when we started our worst period under lee. Swales was just as bad but we used the round badge with shield officially (if not on shirts) since the 50's - 74 we won a league, a european cup, 2 f a cups and a league cup. Doubt a badge is a measure of success. People like the eagle but our badge is round was at first and Should be again.

I would keep the eagle crest maybe on though but no as our main emblem

Also it isn't a manchester eagle, it was ditched in 58 having been used for less than a decade as a symbol of the city

The stupid continental eagle saw our worst ever period in our history
for 1 year yes but after that it was an upwards trend.

The old badge saw a bit of success as well as abject failure ...

The daft Eagle saw some of our worst failures too
2 relegations yes but only blips on our journey upwards. Obviously we had the Pearce years but I would still have given him a chance. Besides not having money we were well run imo.

We saw our best European success without a badge on the kit so based on that daft argument we should get rid of all badges

NO daft Eagle

Yes that badge is the best i've seen so far

That's fantastic, for those that don't get the eagle, it might have been a fad at the time, but that it links to Manchesters aviation history, is a suitable enough reason for having it. Also the fact that since it appeared, it secured our owner, the CFA (Has a thing about eagles) and was on the shirt for all the trophies that followed, for Christ sake I'm 42 years old been going since 89 and its given me moments I'll cherish for the rest of my life! Including a 1-6 hammering of the neighbours! It's definitely the recognisable element of the badge too, internationally. Gotta stay, for these reasons, step forwards not backwards me thinks![/QUOTE]
I thought the eagle was a link from the Roman period

Couldn't agree more. Good effort!

Been thinking about this all day ,50 years old so served time under all 3 badges, voted in the survey to ditch the eagle ,but think this concept keeps everyone happy a bit of past present and future.
Never thought I would have changed my opinion in a day !

The daft eagle badge has to go. It looks cheap and vulgar up on the scoreboard compared to nearly all other club badges.

It isn't simple, elegant, modern or traditional, but a dreadful clash of styles.

The shield looks reasonably OK, though the Lancashire rose would improve it, as would more traditional colouring.

The eagle and the three stars look like something designed in a tattoo parlour.

The motto is a bit silly. Football matches are not battles.

We play the eagles tomorrow night, why would anyone want to include an eagle on our badge?

Round badge, classic sailing ship, three rivers as demonstrated by GeekinGav.

Ah, but the original round badge was important to City at the 1970 ECWC final as I will demonstrate in the lectures I am doing for MCFC over the next few weeks. I'd urge everyone to try and get tickets because there are a lot of myths out there about our badges and these talks will, hopefully, help show the significance of the elements of each badge and those badges. Details here (lifted from mcfc official site):

For further information about the badge, you can attend a free, one-hour lecture at the CFA Media Centre by Manchester football historian Gary James. Tickets are limited to one per person and are offered on a first come, first served basis. To reserve your place, follow the instructions below:
