It won't be being used till next season, but I am sure they will have something within the next few weeks.

To be fair the press release does say 'coming weeks' rather than 'coming months'

On the other hand the red rose era could signify the start of our wonderfull academy started by the equally superb ex goalie Alex Williams.

Football Academies were set-up in 1998, City applied for Academy status at the end of Chairman Lee's reign and so it was the Eagle

Sir Alex Williams was always part of the Community team from 1990

Sorry for pilfering @1.618034 design, and essentially ripping off Gav, but as far as core design and colour scheme goes, this would get my vote. (I'd change the text to navy blue as well if I knew how :-)

I have to agree..it's simple but effective and classy..would be very happy if it was along these lines

What I'm more worried about is there has been so many variations of the badge made up by fans..will the club be scared to do something similar and have one of the fan designers sue for copyright/ripping off the design or something? I know we would like to think it wouldn't happen

the majority of the fan badges though have been created using the older badges as a design template anyway.

They are still modern interpretations though...doesn't give the club much room with regards to updated versions of the old badge...at least without stepping on someone's toes...Gav for example has done loads of permutations

Thanks Gary. Knew id read it somewhere. I take back my apology Metalartin ;-) So as it stands the original has 2 titles & 2 fa cups. Think im best staying quiet lol.

2 titles, 3 FAC, 1LC & 1 ECWC! It was worn at 1934 homecoming and was still being used in 1972. Actually, an illuminated version of the original, pre Rose, circular badge was still on the external wall of the CitySocial Club in the late 1980s!

So what you're trying to say is, if we're measuring by success the Rose badge is pretty fucked?

Thanks Gary. Your a fountain of City knowledge. Tbh I was originally looking at the point as some fans were saying the eagle badge had covered our most successful period. If the eagle does go I won't be on here gloating. ..just quietly pleased that I'm among like minded folk.

I'm sure any genuine blue wouldn't try and stitch up the club for copyright infringement based on a design they've knocked up on posted on Bluemoon. You'd certainly hope not.

As Gav himself said, his popular design is not anything original, he's just modernised our original badge, and included the circle border from the NYCFC badge.

As I pointed out about the FCUM badge, although that is similar, it's pretty much a rip off of our badge from the 1930s. I'm sure in any copyright case the club could produce enough evidence that they owned the intellectual property to the original design, and any updated version knocked up by a fan shouldn't affect that.

Slightly changing/updating somebody else's already existing and copyrighted ideas doesn't give you your own copyright. If Gav or whoever started selling merch with their amended versions of the badge the club could put a stop to it if they wanted.

Highly unlikely. The club could do a lot worse than asking geekingav to help.
