Club Badge (merged)

The truth is that the club are not really interested what the "proper MR loving blue tinted spectacle wearing" fans on here think, despite what they might say in public. They are looking to the future and establishing a truly global elite football club. The idea that after investing a billion pounds Mansour would sanction a new badge which is basically the old tired shit one - which lets be honest is associated for the most part with failure and humiliation, is pure delusion.

What if one of those fans has the best idea though? Don't have City down as snobby do you?

Exactly...makes me laugh all these eagle folk saying 'What if you have a tattoo?' like it will disappear off the planet

How many people have the old lancs rose badge tattooed...hundreds I'd have thought...the eagle will just be another badge in our history...makes no difference whatsoever

If the eagle does fly the nest it'll be the new retro.

I was highlighting the bandwagon jumpers who "support" City from miles away who've never been to Manchester. Why the fuck should they have impact on our badge?

The history of the club clearly means fuck all to them considering they're all over Facebook saying the older badges, including the coat of arms, are shit.

I think its important to treat each comment separately when discussing social media comments or fans views. My opinion is everyones opinions count. Course they do. New fans, old fans, foreign fans...see the common theme?

I've spoken to a mate in the industry and he said final designs for next seasons Premier League kit are usually released to manufacturers at the end of November.

The timing of the consultation and the press release last week is surely no coincidence.

City have announced they will be releasing the badge in the next couple of weeks, so they'll probably release it to City fans just before they send it to manufacturers, and the kit will be out a few weeks later than most other teams kits next summer.

I'm pretty sure we usually release the kit for sale later than most other teams anyway don't we?

I don't think Nike will be too bothered about having to do the iron on patches a bit later than the rest of the kit though.

@Ric following on from the chat about a vote the other week, I think it's now possible to create a shortlist. Not everyone will have their first choice included, but I've tried to select 5 that represent the views of the majority of posters on here.

We know it's going to be round, so I've included 5 round badges, 2 with eagles, 2 with three river shields, and one with a rose.

Everyone has their own ideas on trim and colour scheme, as reflected in Gav's post last week that had 30 different designs on. Perhaps everyone's first choice is not one of these options, but I hope there is enough variety that people can vote on the core design they like best, even if they would make alterations in a perfect world.

Yeh I spoke to my mate specifically about us having a new badge.

He said if we have a 'woven' badge (which is basically a cut out badge that is stuck on, like Barca, PSG etc, which we will have if it's round) as opposed to an 'embroidered' badge which is what we used to have under Umbro, then the deadline for a summer release will be late November / early December.

I'm sure the timing of the announcement by City is no coincidence. They'll no doubt want to release the design to the supporters and the press before it is leaked by a dodgy photo from a factory in Asia. I'd expect the final design to be released in the next couple of weeks.
