Club Badge (merged)

No problem. I was thinking about it in the serenity of Deansgate Waterstones this morning. It all began to make sense.

Happy Xmas and NY.

And to you too, and all other Blues.

The new badge isn't perfect but I already think it is an improvement on the Eagle. I think it captures all the elements that need to be on the badge. I trust the club have tested it and other possibles in a variety of settings (e.g. on shirts) and decided that it works.

from looking at a few other forums a lot of other fans seem to like it, the retro feel seems to be the biggest positive.
I see some good and some bad in he forums, on Twitter, and via in person chats. For me most of the split is between people that dislike it and people that find it to be acceptable—I have run across only a few that emphatically like it.

I actually really like the idea behind the badge and the return to our "roots", as it were (especially since I am one of the badge "half-breeds"). It's just the execution that puts me off. To me it already looks a product of 2015 design trends rather than a standalone badge that can hold its own over its recognition cycle (it's not meant to last forever but it should have been designed to at least not look silly five years from now or even right now next to much better designed crests).

Oh well, seems I'll just grin and bear it. I still love the club, after all.

Not from those I have been talking to (several who have contacted me to share their negative opinion). But perhaps it is different circles and different people. I am sure everyone will learn to accept it eventually, though.
From what I've seen it's split both City fans and non-City fans.

I was an eagle outer and this design looks a bit cartoonish for my tastes.

However, I'd prefer a round badge with the ship and rivers / rose designed by someone at Warner Bros than Leonardo DaVinci coming back down to earth to produce anything with an eagle on it.

Was convinced the eagle was going, and I'm absolutely delighted it is, never to come back.

Merry xmas.

You a eagle outer noooo

Your dislike of it pleases me the most in this whole sorry sarga ...

But we won't go over old ground ...

Suppose we will all have to live with it..

All the best

I think it's the shield people find issue with. If it was the old shield I don't think it would look cartoony, it'd look more impressive. Less brewery logo like.

I do not think anything red should be in a prominent position in a City badge. It is hideous.

The red rose is fine but it's a disgrace that they have it on top of blue. Should be on top of white.
See my comments earlier on the thread about this subject

To me it looks traditional, harks back to the city of the 60s/70s when we had success. I dont want anything to remind me of the eighties again. The badge is good enough, other teams are not going to be looking at it and saying City are shite based on a badge ffs! To those who dont like it, get over it? It is a badge, it encapsulates everything that city are. certain colours, raised fonts etc etc does it really matter? Since when did everyone become Kirtsy Alsop?

I think it looks superb.
Takes us back to 1972.
Without a doubt a major upgrade on the mongrel of a made up badge we have now.
Great effort by the club for which they should be given credit for.
