Club Badge (merged)

It was a hard task for the club to please everyone, but on reflection I think they've probably got it right. Many didn't want the rose because of it's lack of relevance, but it probably makes for a more interesting, eye catching badge having it included. Also if you look around town, on the library and other public buildings, the rose is a prominent feature, so even though it might not currently be relevant, it still holds an important place in Manchester's history.

The only thing I've not got used to, is on a white background, the badge does look rather unbalanced, with the bottom half of the shield taking much more prominence. I'm sure we'll get used to it, but on a sky blue background the badge looks tip top.

Well now that I think about it the elements that people aren't sure on are probably the ones that will make the badge instantly recognisable and stand out from others... maybe that's the reason behind some of the decisions.
 
Would have preferred it to have 'football club' on it. Not read the thread but why do New York and Melbourne get to have it on theirs? I see them as literally nothing to do with us, but if they are part of the so called City Football Group, why don't we have football club on our badge as the lead team, and those two go without it?

Petty I know, (I'm not a fan of the CFG).

It would have looked so much better with Manchester City Football Club.

Nope, definitely O.C.D.. One dot to abbreviate Disorder and another to end the sentence.

I find the new badge very forgetful. I keep looking back to see if I'm going to like it, but am continually disappointed. Hope it somehow looks better on the shirt.

You don't need another one to end the sentence mate, you never put two full stops next to each other unless you're creating suspense in a comic...

i wasnt a fan of it at first and sometimes still a few things i would change, but on shirt mockups, from a distance, it does look .... ok.

its not that, its better than anything i did as i just did fusions of what we had before. just dont think the rose has a place anymore, its a footnote in history (rather have a maroon football there imo), the 1894 already acknowledges to our history, so its just a bit overkill to me.

but like i say, its looks good in kit mockups, so i'm getting used it now.

and was a bit bored when listening to Phil Williams talking about sleep disorders on the radio and wondering why i wasnt asleep, then realised its was 1.30am doing this...

A flaw I've noticed recently that was actually pointed out in edits when the new badge leaked is the white behind the ship. In the 72 badge, it's blue behind the ship & white behind the rose. In the new badge, it's the opposite, and it feels out of place, same with the extra border around the crest. Ideally it'd be blue behind the ship and white behind the rose with the rivers being blue.

I like the badge in general and I'm looking forward to seeing a legitimate, physical version but there's no doubting that it's flawed, and to be honest it's difficult to see how the club can botch the little things.

I completely agree with what you're saying mate. It looked really weird at first, but as I posted above I've had it as my screensaver for weeks and I'm used to it now.

When I see the 72 badge now it looks weird see the blue and white the other way around. It does take a period of adjustment to get used to, but I bet in 12 months when you've been swamped with it, you'll get used to it.

Exactly. The original leaked image did it no favours, looking generic on a white background, basically coming across as another CFG creation. On the blue flags on Boxing Day however, and as seen in fan mock-ups, it has serious potential and that's why I emphasise wanting to see the physical version on a shirt because I think only then can we truly judge. The physical version in the hub was brilliant. I bet it'll look great on pre-game media graphics. Now let's hope it hits the target where it matters.

so from next year this new badge will be everywhere ? website kits n all .last season with the eagle :P ? what about fans who got the old badge tattooed ? will the club help them financially if they opt to get rid of the old badge tattoo . will be a good gesture if they do . ..
