Club Brugge (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Great 2nd half, but we had a spell of playing like under 7s again with no discipline. At one point Akanji was on the left wing. Once we regained our senses and composure we were miles ahead of them as a footballing team. Considering they rested the majority of their team at the weekend, it was them that were knackered from chasing the ball.

Well played City.

I am wondering if Marmoush can play in the knockout play-off

I have heard multiple stories so far
some people say he cant because it is still a play off even if it is knockout
some people say he can because it is knock out

ive been looking around but cant find info to back either claim up

Same midfield still and no rb if things stay the same...dont think psg is definetly better than either of those teams..ofc we have a chance ,but need to improve our game quite a lot and cut out silly mistakes.
If things stay the same, yes. Probably won’t though.

This guy.

Goal and assist.

Absolutely love watching him. Going to be a cult hero.

Superb result and the best performance of the season imo.

Kev still the man. What a fucking player.

Thought Stones was top as well. Calm and authoratative.

Get Marmoush firing, Doku, Grealish and Bobb back and we’ll twat anyone who wants it.
and also Kovačić who started the comeback

After how we played against Chelsea I was surprised to see us change our approach again today.

We missed Josko bombing down the left in that first half. Although I appreciate that allowed Stones to do his thing in the middle.

Didn't think the game really needed Gundo, KDB and Bernardo all in the starting lineup.

You could see early on we were screaming out for savinho and gvardiol pushing forward on that left.

Kudos to pep for changing it, much better second half.

Going to enjoy the win. No point worrying about next opponent be it Madrid or Bayern. Fingers crossed Dias back and more energy and pace with Marmoush. Hopefully another signing or even two for first team to come.

No.

It's how the draw was planned beforehand.

2 of the highest placed teams play the lowest placed 2 decided by a draw.

I don't know but suspect we will be away 2nd?
There must be an advantage for the higher placed teams!

Just glad we care through.
Do you know if Marmoush can play?

how good was Stonsey!! made it look easy at times in the middle of the park :-)

enjoyed that 2nd half, we weren't perfect and yes we're vulnerable at times, but credit to the lads for getting the job done!!

Any preference on who you'd rather play between Bayern and Madrid? Probably not much between them, but we've played Madrid so much, I suppose I'd rather Bayern.

From a quick search, there's a 'mini-draw' Friday to determine which we play.

Just seen Bruges's goal. Cretinous by Nunes. Cretinous.
Skip could tell him this, from on high, because I saw him do it at Maine Road over and over again: first awareness you have to have as a full back is, who's behind you as back up? No-one? It's a boulevard? Then you stand off your player a bit, jockeying him while waiting for reinforcements to arrive.
Pep, Nunes is not a defender. Whatever else he may be. Further up the pitch… maybe. Not there.
Oh, and maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but to anyone who's seen an angle from behind the goal, can't Ed be doing a bit better on that shot? At least a hand to it? It's a genuine question, because I've only seen the shot from the far side from it.

And I'd just add — Nunes has been trashed on here over and over, and anybody who looks at my post history will see that I have defended him. I'm convinced there's a skilful player there (albeit not one who thinks too deeply, perhaps, about what he's doing). Just not in defence.
But you know, it's Pep who keeps doing this. Does it need to be said for the umpteenth time? The best coach in the world, bar none. But it's weird how full back seems to be his blind spot. He thought he'd improvise Delph as a full back. Moderately successful, and then not at all. Zin as a full back. Moderately successful, but never properly convincing. Now it's Nunes. Just hanging on in the role, by a thread. You can see it. Kyle was for a long time a genuine full back — he actually couldn't do much else, but that was fine — and in his pomp he was imperious. He had a very particular set of skills that made him a nightmare for people like Vinicius…
Who else does Pep have as options? On site, not much, true. We must go out into the market this summer for full backs. On both sides, in fact.
