Club Brugge (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

The first half was very frustrating, our build up play was too slow and tepid. Second half was a lot better with the introduction of Savinho having a major impact on the game.

Good to see Boulders last the 90 mins, I thought he had a great game and let's hope miracles happen and he can stay fit.

Great team performance against a very good side. It could well have gone the other way. Play like we can and I dont fear anyone. Obvious but very good substitution was Savy.

Not sure what that 1st half nonsense was starting 3 OAPs together in central midfield? Wasted Phil parked wide & bizarrely left Savinho on the Judi Dench. Once he came on the whole game changed. Lucky to have another bite at the cherry in this comp - let's see where it takes us. We still badly need central midfield reinforcements.

As an aside Brugge hold midfielder Onyedika (no15) is a mile better than anything we have in that spot. The club would have you believe there's nobody available - are you sure lads because he'd instantly improve our good midfield immediately, and I'm sure we can afford a player from the Belgian League.

I am wondering if Marmoush can play in the knockout play-off

I have heard multiple stories so far
some people say he cant because it is still a play off even if it is knockout
some people say he can because it is knock out

ive been looking around but cant find info to back either claim up
Agreed. There seems to be some debate as to whether the play-off round is the first round of the knock-out stage or the final round of the mini-league stage.

Yep but I don’t see us going deep in this competition without a new RB and additional midfielder.
Well I think the announcers on Paramount+ alluded to that. They thought that the only guy that merited playing in knockout rounds was Marmoush. Figure Khusanov and Reis aren't ready. But if we were to get Cambiaso, I think that would change things. I think its getting better. It looked better in the second half. But we will see how things have changed this weekend. Arsenal game will show us where we're really at.

If we'd gone in at 0-0 Pep wouldn't of changed it

Its not the defence its the dads army midfield !! We have to get a new midfielder in !!
It’s both for me. The back four are all over the place. Watch how slow Gvardiol is to get back for the first goal with zero awareness of what’s around him. Nunes attempted tackle for their goal. Akanji sloppy as fuck all night which has been the story of his season.

I totally agree about the midfield too.

Fortunately Pep saw the madness of his own selection and and tactics and brought Savinho on, moving Foden.

Them scoring just before half time was probably the best thing that could have happened. If we had gone in 0-0 I doubt he would have changed anything.

Couldn't see the game tonight, but from the headlines it sounds like the greatest injustice since we put 6 past Watford at Wembley and 'got away' with the uefa charges?
