Club statement regarding Barry Bennell's conviction

This **** deserves life. No parole.
I hope he suffers every single day in prison, hopefully someone in there will shorten his sentence for him in the most painful way imaginable.
Though the way our prison system works, he'll get the wrong kind of special treatment.

If that's the case, why don't they give a sentence and say that it will be served in full. Balls to this concept of "time off for good behaviour" - he wouldn't be there if he'd behaved in the first place. If he was anything other than a model prisoner, extend the sentence.

Simples.

It's technically not time off for good behaviour. All but life sentences with minimum terms are served 50% in Jail and 50% on license.

The law isn't "Simples". Even though he has been prosecuted and sentenced recently the Judge will have had to apply the law as applied at the time of the offences, this includes not only sentences but offences charged, although on sentencing he can take into account likely sentencing under today's law it is primarily the law and sentences at the time that applies.

Or just give a minimum term and then assess their suitability for release once they've served that. If they are still considered to be a potential danger then keep them locked up.

He is feral sub human scum and he will be hated in prison. He will be spending 23 hours a day in a cell - hopefully he dies the day before he is due for release. I hope he gets regularly attacked and suffers day in and day out having to live with what he has done.

You would hope even if the piece of shit lives long enough to be considered for parole, given his lack of contrition and the possibility of re offending extremely high, even our namby pamby parole board won't release him. Mind you they did his equally repulsive brother who after raping and killing a pregnant woman went on to kill again.

Hope City does listen to Gary Cliffe's case and acts appropriately (same with the other victims and other clubs involved) but the relevant officials are no longer involved.

If they are still alive then prosecute them , but I get the feeling that the media are trying to manipulate this story into a reflection on the present ownership. As I have said before I very much doubt there is a football club in the country who will not have similar scenarios materialising in the near future. It’s truly shocking .
