It depends how its gonna to pan out. Could be great, because US "soccer" market is still growing rapidly and has lot of potential. In case supporters show up, it could be great for players. Fans in USA will likely fill the stands—if they turn up for meaningless preseason matches, why wouldn’t they come to a FIFA-sanctioned tournament?

Still the final Real City for instance would be a nice thing to win and to watch.

Yes, I understand the timing and players being asked to play in their summer breaks and then straight onto pre-season, But City have had most of the squad out this season and will be fresh and ready for this, Also we have some very good talent in the youth system and Vitor Reis and Claudio Echeverri and possibly Rodri, Bobb,

City will be going into this 100% and must be one of the favourites to win it, I can bet United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and all the other so-called elite teams would wish they were in it,

It makes total sense to have a club competition where the champions genuinely feel like world champions. The first iteration probably won’t do that but over time it could be more prestigious than champions league. In international football it’s more impressive winning the World Cup than Euros right? Reason is you’re beating everyone not just Europe and those countries in some cases are better than in Europe (Argentina/Brazil).

Right now those other clubs aren’t at that standard but surely the only way you do that is by having competitions that allow them to earn more and grow and over time it becomes more competitive. Suddenly Brazil/Argentinian clubs can afford to keep their players or sell them at a higher price…they get better and this competition.

It will be a once every four years event backed by FIFA and can only get bigger. Winning the first proper Club World Cup will be huge for the team that does it.

Think this thread needs merging with the other one.
We’ve booked our trip based on free cancellations for accommodation. Only going for the second two weeks of the tournament so our digs are based on us winning the group and a second set of digs based on us coming second. Thankfully I’ve left everything up to my travel companions as I’m a FOC!
The way the season has progressed with injuries and so forth I see the tournament as a great opportunity for those who’ve hardly played this season to remind us how good they can be. Haaland will be well rested too. Madrid are not all that, it’s a tournament we can win and bring home the glory and the cash!

Agree, I think this tournament being a money grab doesn't take away from the fact that it'll be an important tournament that each club is taking seriously, and will likely be a very entertaining watch.
