Cockney blues

I'm from the midlands first match was 73. Back in the day Manchester born city fans used to think it was great you made the effort to travel to watch city. Ok you would have had a few who didn't like it . Now you are viewed as a glory hunter by some fans (which I understand to a certain extent ) In the past few years I have been asked what I'm doing at city, , and a few other comments . I don't come from Manchester but I love the club as much as anyone else. Trouble is as the club gets bigger so does the support from other areas around the country .

I seem to recall the Leicester branch bus at most games in the early 70's, they were a cool lot iirc.

Good job they went or the away end would have been nearly empty. Why are people getting hung up about this?
Exactly this. Do some of the posters even attend home games and see all the empty seats, we have got to get the fans in from somewhere.

Your slip is showing now, CR.
I don't know what you mean.

Whether we like it or not there have been loads of empty seats at home games, I would say apart from Chelsea and Liverpool. Doubt we will be at 54,000 on Tuesday.

It's very odd to me how its treated as subject we should not really mention, its like "don't mention the war" from faulty towers.

Rags take great enjoyment to mention it at every opportunity, it's all they have left.

I could not give a monkeys about what rags think about out attendances though, that's like worrying about a dripping tap on the titanic at the moment for us and them.

I was at Norwich yesterday and the amount of cockneys there or 'norfolk' blues was ridiculous! Getting the train back to mcr last night a big group of city fans got off at Nottingham, fair enough if you've been a life long city fan and aren't from manc but these 'cockney Blues' seem to be increasing. Getting more like the rags every season.

I'm so glad you're not on city's board of directors otherwise we would be selling raffle tickets to win a butchers breakfast plate.

I couldn't give a hoot who & where they follow city from. Move with the times bud, it's the future.

living in Sheffield since 1990 and having 3 kids who have season tiks, but come with a yorkshire accent, i cant see that it matters where you come from.
The sheff / manc train has always had loads of blues making the journey on match days, as has the leeds / manc train.
The poster may be surprised at the high number of away going blues who dont come from manc.
There's well known blues from Nottingham, chesterfield, leicester, Peterborough to name a few - all with loads of loyalty points because they've been going years.
Singling out the non manc accents is pathetic imo.......and a mistake to think that they are all jcl or less entitled to follow city than those born in the city.

I would never shag a bird who wasn't a mancunian, and a city supporting mancunian at that. It's the only way I could guarantee that my kids were 100% city. Cos if you're not 100% city, you're not city. It's as simple as that. You can't be a city fan and not be from Manchester. It's 100% impossible. Inbreeding and inter-martying are pretty much, the only ways we can ultimately guarantee the survival of our club. We've got to stick to our own. Come on city! City come on! ;-)
