I was at Norwich yesterday and the amount of cockneys there or 'norfolk' blues was ridiculous! Getting the train back to mcr last night a big group of city fans got off at Nottingham, fair enough if you've been a life long city fan and aren't from manc but these 'cockney Blues' seem to be increasing. Getting more like the rags every season.

Is it not possible that these people have just been a tad more successful than your typical local lad who lives 2 streets from his mum, flown the nest so to speak and as we didn't sell out, found it easy to get a ticket?

I would have thought in a population of millions, London , May well have some city fans.

In fact when I was living there in the 80's, we had a supporters club that took 60 plus to most aways so it's not a new thing.

It has always been a myth that City fans are solely from Manchester. I am one of your "Cockney Blues" & have been supporting our team since the days of Bell & Summerbee. What is your problem?

Fair point but the amount that I've seen at games recently must be post 08.
You're talking out of your fucking arse.

The London supporters branch had around 150 members back when we were shockingly bad, I know, I was in it.
Now I am on the south coast and have joined one more local to me, we still get a fair few going to games, especially the London ones.

I'm a season ticket holder and do nearly all home games, it takes me anywhere between 4 and 7 hours to get there for a home game, depending on traffic, am I less of a fan than you because I don't have a Manchester accent?

Bore off you outdated tit.

You are actually more of a fan for me making that level of effort. When were you in London branch? I was between 87-89

I'm not more of a fan than anyone pal, I just can't stand these pricks that slate out of town support and for the record, my Grandfathers family is from Prestwich originally, that's where I get it from.

I was in the London branch for a few years in the mid 90's mate.

Bit after me that. We had a great following from London in the 80's.

My Dad has lived down south since the 80s and I've grown up down south as a City fan. We were there yesterday and we're certainly not plastics.
Just because I don't have a manc accent it doesn't make me any less of a passionate supporter.

We had a good support from London in the 1980s partly due to ex pats but mainly due to out success in the late 60s and 70s. There are cockney Blackburn and Newcastle fans after their success or relative success in the mid 90s but have never been north of Luton. In London you just pick a team to support on the whole, you don't need any association or you just make one up if need be.

I'm from the midlands first match was 73. Back in the day Manchester born city fans used to think it was great you made the effort to travel to watch city. Ok you would have had a few who didn't like it . Now you are viewed as a glory hunter by some fans (which I understand to a certain extent ) In the past few years I have been asked what I'm doing at city, , and a few other comments . I don't come from Manchester but I love the club as much as anyone else. Trouble is as the club gets bigger so does the support from other areas around the country .

Amen to that. Despite the moniker, I've been in the London Branch for over 25 years, and although OSC group travel is far more difficult these days thanks to Sky TV rearranging games and Virgin dicking us around over discounted train fares, it's always been a well populated Branch. I went to Norwich yesterday and I've absolutely no idea who or where these supposed 'plastics' were. That notwithstanding, I'm not gonna take much notice of someone whose first season ticket was in 2007 (see 'Fighting' thread), 18 years after mine......
