Cole Palmer

I feel like £45m-£50m for a fringe player (let’s be honest) is too good to turn down, even factoring in our lack of depth. If we could get a sell on percentage clause too, even better. The journos are also reporting that Palmer is open to leaving and has been all summer. Pep even alluded to that too recently.
He is going at £50m.we will have something solid within hours. It will be done by looks of it

What on earth is Chelsea's grand plan here?

1 player out, 2 players in. I assumed Poch would want a focused and leaner squad.

Amortisation etc etc, I get it, but at some point no matter how smart you're being you've got a time bomb on your hands. Brighton lads and city grads could go wrong quickly.

Would be gutted if we sold Palmer. I would get him wanting more opportunities but Chelsea don't offer that. He'd be further away from playing than he is with us, where we have more competitions to play in and a thinner squad.

I rate him incredibly highly, I think his footballing intelligence is huge. To do some of the things he does at his age shows just how good he could be and with a good run of games I think we'd all be calling for him to start regularly.
I agree although I suppose the writing on the wall was the Doku signing. I honestly don’t know what fans expect - do they expect a 21 yr old kid to be world class straight away and if he isn’t then he can piss off? It takes time and experience for players to develop and I hoped he might have kicked on a bit.
But as far as I’m concerned he hasn’t let anyone down so far.

This has annoyed me, why are we open to selling one of our talented players... Especially to Chelsea.

This just doesn't make sense.
If he didn't want to go and get first team football it wouldn't make sence , however that's not the case , I don't think for his playing career Chelsea is the right choice I honestly can't see him playing many more minutes there than he would with us . However to get £45 for a want away player with his limited experience is food business. Personally I would have hoped he would have waited for his opportunity here

Wanting an academy player to stay and breal through aside, selling for 45 million makes perfect sense, plus if chelsea undervalue or badly use his talents we can always buy back for 20 million in a year or two

i think his agent has gone to city,he needs to go out on loan, pep in one of his pressers said,he stays or he is sold,no loan, personally think palmer would be crazy football wise to move to chelsea, he would get swallowed up with all the other new players, he needs to bide his time here ,get game time when he can and produce, which in fairness with the minutes he has played hes scored and looked pretty decent so far, he just needs to think what is actually going to benefit him in the long term, as i say if i was him i would give it another season , see how he gets on, think the under 21s success has got his agent all giddy.
