Cole Palmer

It’s not a popular opinion but Personally I am sick of us selling the promising academy graduates before giving them a real run in the side. Though I’d hate to see us lose, I hope if we do sell him to Chelsea, the lad rips us a new one when we face him as a way of sticking two fingers up to those that sold him. I know that’s what I’d be wanting to do.
You’d like him to rip us a new one? Proper fan

interesting take

Sad to see him go, the lad has talent and he needs to be playing regularly. His chances of starting at City are limited, so I can understand his thinking, but nevertheless it is disappointing he is likely to leave.

Like most Blues I think it’s always nice when an academy player makes it. Cole has lots of potential but at 21 that’s when potential needs to transform to delivery. Seeing him leave would be disappointing but based on ability now rather than potential £45m would be good business. Obviously as ffp treats chelsea and usa owned teams differently to us then we need the money more than they do

Surely the academy is set up in a way to unearth the odd gem but mostly to sell loads of others for combined big money.
Its a huge money spinner for the club, if we were a mid table side then quite a few of these kids would see regular first team action but we arent like that anymore, only the best of the best will actually make it at City.
Probably fortunate if one or two come through every 5-10 years , who are actually good enough to stay in the first team squad.

I genuinely think he might have what it takes but not sure his attitude sits well with Pep

For what it's worth I heard that Oscar Bobb is rated very highly within the club and it may be that we can't clear a path for both into the first team. Maybe the decision is that we would sooner keep Bobb than Palmer and if we can then get £40 million in the process then it does make sense.

Just look at Sancho, people were up in arms when he left, how many would want him back now?

Then tells us which Academy prospect is world class and would start with us. Sancho and Brahim are the closest to elite, but neither would start for us. Everyone wants more academy in our first 11, but the reality is all our sells have been correct. The day an academy player is sold and becomes a top 10 player in the world, then your opinion would be very fair.
