Cole Palmer

Don’t blame him for leaving he needs match time Got unlucky with his groin injury, season before last, just as he was establishing himself then last season was a right off. The WC and the win gave him a chance to get back and put himself in the spotlight and he gave the club a play me or sell me ultimatum. With the new signings it was at best a static squad position, time to go. What I find strange is his decision to go to Chelsea hope he does well a Manc and we always wish how own the best

It's superb business for us.

I've never once thought he looks anywhere near a £45m player and if he was called "Col Palmerais" from South America, we'd be over the moon that someone was paying us a fortune for a bit part player.

If he comes good at Chelsea then fair play to them - we can't keep everyone.

Personally, I think it's a terrible move for him. He's not good enough to get into their first XI and is likely to spend a lot of time on the bench.

Sorry to see him go, but not as much as Tommy Doyle (if those reports are true), both because I think Doyle has the potential to be a very good player (in a position we are light in) and because of his close ties to the club.

And I think that says it all about how I feel about Cole. Good player (that could still be great) but not someone I am devastated to see go.

I actually thought, of all our young academy players, Oscar Bibb impressed most in preseason, so I am hoping we get to see more of him on the right side this season.

I wish Palmer well as he works to build a career, though I question whether a move to Chelsea is right for that endeavour. Financially it makes perfect sense, and very few of us would turn down a similar role to the one we have now for many multiples higher wages, so I cannot blame him there.
