Cole Palmer

imo he wanted to go out on loan to get game time, pep wanted to keep him, said to cole stay ,learn and be patient ,cole wanted it now, pep said you can go then, cole has made his bed,it might work out for him,it might not,i'm hoping one day he will regret his impatience.cant wish him the best for the future football wise though, however happiness and health i can.

In fairness, it's not as if there is another way to do it that would work. If you are not in the Champions League, you pretty much can't buy the very best attacking players ( Mbappe, Bellingham, Haaland, Kane, Yamal, and the left winger at Real. So you have 2 choices, but a bunch of slightly below top tier players and some top tier players just past their prime, and hope you can ride that to the CL... Or buy the best young players around and build for 3 years.

Funny enough, you guys have done both. Started with A ( looked like it wasn't working) now you are on to option B ( young and super talented knocking on stardom's door.) And hope it pans out.

My only fear is that I don't think Poxh is the right guy. He strikes me as a very god manager that's just below elite and has stopped rising.

De Zerbi or dude at United are better coaching prospects.

When we did A we didn't have a recruitment structure of any kind. It was just Tuchel and Boehly running around Europe signing players. That's how we ended up with Sterling, Cucurella, Koulibaly and Auba, of which only Sterling looks useful to us a year down the line. Since the sporting structure has been set up, there's been a clear shift in direction and that is youth, youth and youth.

The reason why I'm OK with Poch for now is he is well known for being very good at developing young players. I hope he stays true to that and doesn't succumb to the pressures of Chelsea and start making uber pragmatic, self-preservation decisions. He needs to be given the safety of knowing he can unleash the shackles and let the young players make mistakes. If the time comes in a couple of years where we feel we're close but Poch has taken this team as far as he can, then he can be replaced by someone else (maybe Pep? :) ) who does have track record of creating winning teams.

Mountain out of a molehill that FourFourTwo article. Just confirms Palmer wanted a better chance of more minutes which he'll probably get at Chelsea - nothing about 'demands'.

Purely sensationalist journalism.

Pep is set in his ways, we all know that, and Palmer wasn't going to be starting games weekly in this team.

When Colwill was being linked with Brighton and Liverpool, those were the sort of headlines being written about him too. That he was demanding a certain amount of minutes etc and some fans were turned off by that, but both Poch and Colwill have since said the only conversation they had was around assurances of a fair chance to compete for minutes, which makes more sense than a young lad like that making stupid demands, and that was enough for him to sign a new deal. Sometimes the stars just doesn't align and we've lost players due to this too - Guehi, Livramento etc - who were more than good enough to play for Chelsea but perhaps not quite enough minutes to satisfy the player's ambitions. For every Palmer who slips through the net, there are more coming through the City pipeline and City are in the very enviable position of being able to sort through them all and only keep the best of the best.

The best teams usually have a mix of experience and young talent. The experience players help unlock and guide the young talent.

think Chelsea could have spent a lot wiser, especially in the midfield.

We will see how it unfolds.

I agree with this but once I saw the direction we were going in, I accepted the situation for what it was. Lots of money spent to create a team that is still light years away from any sort of title challenge. I think could have definitely been better spent but at least the direction is clear and, as a fan, I at least know what they're trying to do, even if I think it isn't quite the best way to build a winning team.

Oi hands off.
Realistically unless there is a big fall out I'd be surprised if Pep goes to another English club after City.
I think he will either try international management or club management elsewhere.

You're probably right, although you never know if, say, he's spent a couple of years managing Brazil through a WC and a Copa America, and he's ready for club football again, when he's a few years removed from the feelings of leaving City, he might be OK with a club like Chelsea or Arsenal, depending on the situation of both clubs. I do suspect though that his next club after City will probably be Barcelona, or maybe one of the big famous Brazilian and Argentinian clubs.

Palmer's attitude was off, and clear didn't sit right with pep. Seems it was more an expectant 'give me more minutes', rather than 'i'll get my head down and earn game time.'
His attitude wasn't off. Maybe the way he phrased the discussion with Pep gave the wrong impression.

I see nothing wrong with saying if I am not in your plans for more game time this season I would like to go on loan to try to earn more experience.

Where have you heard that from?

I’ve heard the opposite - he trained very well and pep wanted him to stay, but as with any player, if they want to leave they can

Nothing wrong with wanting more game time either

Is he impatient though? He’s 21 and chances are he would have been a bench player most of this season. Wanting regular game time is fairly normal
