That's because he spends about 90% of the game waiting for an attack at the opponents half. He never tracks back into his own half to stop the opponents from attacking. Good player but very lazy, reminds me of Ozil...just not as gifted

One would presume he plays so because his manager asks it of him, much in the way Guardiola gives Doku licence to remain high up the park. Palmer’s heat map shows that he does get back, though I doubt he’ll ever be a box-to-box player.

Exactly this, he started pre season well and I thought it might be his time to get a run and nail down a starting spot. Didn’t fancy doing it with Doku arriving, the money was too good to turn down. If he does end up flourishing into what he promises to be is there a buy back clause?
