Cole Palmer

I didn't think we should be selling him but it wasn't an unacceptable decision to sell by any means, we will be fine without palmer however well he does, i just always had a problem with the price. Was always way too low imo and just half a season on, Palmers worth considerably more than £45 million even now.
I must say you write a lot of footy sense and i enjoy reading your views but come off it pal, no way was Palmer worth what we got for him nevermind being "worth considerably more than £45million". I can't think of another academy player from any prem club being sold for anywhere near as much, especially a player as young and raw as Cole Palmer was when he left us. Iirc he only started 8 league games and 13 in total in 4 seasons which didn't suggest to me he was worth an initial 42M fee with 3M of future add ons, talk about stealing money, it felt like we'd pulled their pants down and smacked Todd boehly's big fat ostentatious ass 42million times.

Although he's looking good value right now his value can plummet like a lead balloon if his form takes a nose dive and should that happen then Chelsea will think nothing of selling him in another fire sale. Many Chelsea fans cant believe they got him for 'such a steal' but that's easy to say based on current form. I bet there were thousands who saw that price paid as trepidation for one of our kids they'd hardly heard of.

I think he looks like he was conceived at a Happy Mondays concert. Good riddance.....

He's a good player, and may be great. He wasn't a good fit for us at the time. I wish him good luck.

That's the thing, he looked raw and enigmatic and his languid style did himself no favours for much of the time he played for us. We could all see he had plenty of talent but to me he looked like he lacked enough hunger and desire to succeed here and his demeanor came across as he didn't give a fuck a lot of the time. Its becoming increasingly evident that Cole needed minutes that Pep could not guarantee to give him so perhaps Chelsea got wind off Palmer's agent for his client's desire to get more game time, maybe Chelsea offered him more game time. He's a confidence player and his confidence is growing each week as he's strutting around the pitch with bollocks bigger than a six foot cockerel. Fair play Cole lad, loving your cock sure arrogance and I love his bizzare goal celebration dance, wtf is that all about? Amusing none the less.

I think many of us were shocked and surprised how much Chelsea offered us and his transfer went through so fast it was kind of hard to accept and take in because plenty of blues wanted him to be given more time, i know i did, even though i found him frustrating to watch most of the time. Like i mentioned earlier he's gone now so a lot of posts seem to be covering the 'could have' (perhaps) 'should have' 'what if' mantra for ever and a day. We'll never know how good he could have been for us and i feel a bit saddened tbh even though he's probably done the right thing. I wish him happiness and success apart from when he plays against us of course.
Not sure his agent would’ve farted down the phone at us.

I wish him every success - it reflects very well on our academy - but it is done. We do not need to pine about what once was, nor what could have been. He wanted to go for game time. We were prepared to let him and we received an acceptable fee. Goodbye and good wishes...move on.

Don't get the hype. Never thought he looked good enough for our first 11. Good move for him as I'm sure he was told he'd get a starting berth and that's what he needed.
He scored some fantastic goals for the EDS and seemed able to place his shots extremely accurately from distance. I did have a suspicion that the quality of the opposition goalkeepers was a factor in this but he now seems to be showing this at senior level. Other parts of his game out of possession seem lacking for a Pep player but I think that if he could have strung a couple of decent performances together last season he would still be at City.

Let’s face it, if say he was playing for a mid table team other than Chelsea and we hadn’t sold him, everyone would be saying, wow this kid is good and city would be certainly looking at him as they are Olise. That says to me it was a mistake selling him, he should have been sent on loan & if he was doing what he was now, we could have got 80m for him or brought him back next year like a new player. I firmly believe it was on Ferran and the money men, not a footballing or people person decision, with him being a local lad who has come through the academy. Anyway it’s done now, hopefully Bobb can produce.
