Cole Palmer

Good player but not a pep player. He creates a lot but he also loses the ball a lot & it’s 50/50 if he tracks back.

He's an excellent player, destined to become a top player.
If he hadn't been considered to be a 'Pep player' he wouldn't have been training with the first team, let alone playing in it.
He's definitely "one that got away"... By choice. Thankfully, we got a very good price for him.
Good luck to the lad. I hope he becomes a World beater.

I honestly think City fans should take it as huge compliment that we paid so much for a player who had shown so little at point in his career. City’s academy is top of the top, one of the best of the best and the better Palmer does the better City look. Obviously if I was a City fan I’d have preferred to keep him but when you’re winning titles, you can always console yourself with trebles and trophies.

We’ve only won 50% of the trophies we could have won so far this season. These are desperate, desperate times, my old China, and your kind words and logic will not assuage the inconsolable…

That second goal was incredible. Remember one of the first things I saw of Cole was him playing bounce passes in the youth team, that goal once again shows his ability.

Was sad to see him go as it felt like this was going to be his season with Mahrez gone. It is so far looking like he was going to be every bit that seamless transition into that position had he stayed with us. Good luck to him, backed himself and is showing the world what he can do.

I still think what the media are doing to him is unfair. He's a talisman of their hatred for all things City.

Everytime he plays well the comments about him, the pundits, whoever it is, mention City.

He's a good player but he isn't a Doku and never was.

Brilliant Post.

That 2nd goal v Luton was a thing of beauty...your talking ex Chelsea great , Jimmy Greaves type, ice cold attitude in front of goal.incredible composure and self assuredness, great technique of the highest order.

I've said before he has the talent to be of the best players on the planet.

I thought that when he casually sauntered onto the pitch as a sub away in the champions league for Manchester City, opened his body up and casually placed a 20 yard shot into the net with his 1st touch of the ball.no back lift, just a measured, nerveless, finish of high quality..

City will No doubt still go from strength to strength, and the likes of Foden and Mr Bobb will probably mean there is no real loss over time..

But for me,personally, I always like to see home grown players thrive at City...when I first started watching the Blues regularly, home and away in the late 80s the buzz amongst City fans on the terrace home and away was electric ,watching so many youngsters graduate to the 1st team. I still remember standing at Sheff Utd March 88,watching us beat the Blades with a very young team in the old 2nd division,Lake Brightwell Moulden Hinchcliffe Redmond and White playing their part..and Chelsea away the season after(1988) in a 3-1 victory, only seen by a few Blues due to the away fans ban....,that was probably the 2nd best performance by a young City team,ever,imo...the pride at watching home grown talent bring the points home was something special ,unique and created the passion which made watching in those days very very special. It was a natural passion centred on a real affinity to a club cemented upon young talent progressing through the ranks, not on unbridled success.
I should add that part of the handful of Blues there that day at the Bridge were Peter Britton( RIP) his wife Anita, and Tim and Paul Britton, condolences to the family at this sad time, a great Blue Footballing family. Paul Britton was the one of the best footballers I ever had the pleasure of playing football with, his languid highly skillfull approach not too far off from Cole Palmers style..we turned out together for City supporters club many a time and did not lose many games...
I digress...

Times change.we have un matched success now,and City will always move on,whatever ...But for me ,there is no shame in giving due respect to a great talent who has moved on.
True football fans should always appreciate great players,it's in the true spirit of the game,...or was.

And as for Vialli 98 the visting Chelsea fan.who disregarded my highlighting of the Chelsea city game back in 88,as a meaningless, random statistic....perhaps now you have Palmer playing so well for you,you will appreciate the importance of Effective well managed youth team projects, even tho that match was well before your celebrated username rocking up at the Bridge.
You should always know your teams history pal...and not just the good bits,...and be willing to learn from them.

Happy New Year to all Blues and of course All visiting fans of other teams.

I have bored my family with this since the day he went..... he will become a very influential player in the prem in years to come, a superb talent with rare ability to drop deep, link play and pass (bit like Kane) That ball he played out wide from outside of his boot the other day. Our academy have developed some player there. Not many can unlock defense's in todays game. I think its the kind of player we will need in the future. I think he should have been treated slightly differently as a local academy product and potential future star....big loss i think. He wanted to go of course because i don't think Pep bought into his aloof character. Could be construed as arrogant but all the best number 10's need a bit of this. English one's do anyway...from Alan Hudson, Tony Currie, Frank Worthington...even our Frannie..part of the role.
