Cole Palmer

The last decade is the stuff of dreams we had in those dark days, and I would not change it for anything.

I always knew even in the darkest moments it would come good one day, and what a ride it's been and hopefully it's just the start.

Yes odd isn't it? Only the hope that one day it would somehow click into place and sheer bloody mindedness kept us turning up week after week. Our heart told us it would but our heads and eyes told us we were kidding ourselves. We had many false dawn's along the way but we are now the best club in the world.

Going into school college on Monday morning in the 70s and 80s was a fucking nightmare.

That sort of sh1t sure toughens you up and makes you appreciate this last decade even more ;)

You're absolutely right mate, but as an FOC, and believer in traditional football values, I feel that the pursuit of World's Best status has taken the club away from its roots. It's not Manchester City FC anymore, it's the City Football Group. The club has been rebuilt on different (albeit significantly stronger) foundations.

It's modern day football that I've probably fallen out of love with. It's sterile and elitist, followed by a new generation of reflected glory and celebrity obsessed fans. It's a million miles away from the local club and game I felt in love with.

I know I'm probably in a minority on here, but it's just one of the reasons that I, and more than a few other FOCs, have given up season cards and stopped going to City matches despite the success. It's just not the same game anymore.
You’re definitely not alone mate. In fact I couldn’t agree more. I could drone on about it for hours. In fact I do with the lad who I used to sit next to back in the day..

Talking of false promises, the Howard Kendall era was the one that hurt the most, when he turned up I genuinely thought we had got it right and were on the point of something special, then the top hat went back to Everton, a disaster for all parties, especially Howard.
