Colin Bell RIP - Ian Cheeseman interview with Jon Bell (P142)

The Football Focus piece was fantastic.

Just this minute watched it, really excellent and fitting tribute and brought back a lot of very happy childhood memories. I had to smile at the memory of City's then permanent mascot, Paul Todd. He was a year younger than me and lived up the road in Fallowfield. After I left junior school I went back to watch the football team play and, by chance, he was playing for the opposition, well he was until a lad named 'Chiddy' Walsh laid him flat out with a glorious left hook!

The tributes to Colin Bell have been very heart warming, especially the BBC one, narrated by Timothy Dalton. There aren't many footballers that warrant this sort of tribute.

I'm pleased that most of the media seemed to gauge the tone correctly on this subject. Those that didn't - the Mail, with their sneering picture headline for one - only did themselves a disservice, because Colin was universally liked and respected. Is there one person who has ever said bad things about Colin Bell? I can't think of one.

I looked at some other fan sites, and there were some very touching stories about Colin - even from Liverpool and United fans.
