Colin Bell RIP - Ian Cheeseman interview with Jon Bell (P142)

Amazing how much his successor, David Silva, had such a similar modest personality. It’s that personality that always feels ‘Manchester City’ to me.
Thats why I like silva a lot, and would have liked bell. They didn't have to boast about themselves, or hire pr teams to inflate their achievements. Proper old school football fans just inherently know their quality as players and, more importantly, as people.

A little light story about Colin to lift the mood.

Back in the days of queuing round the ground for tickets at Maine Rd to keep warm on a cold early morning a few lads were playing football on the Main Stand car park to keep warm.

Some guy had a shot which hit the back of a bloke walking across the pitch. "Get out of the way, who do you think you are Colin Bell?" was shouted by the guy who hit him with the ball.

Yep, It was Colin who just turned round smiled at him and carried on walking with howls of laughter from the cold queue.

Was privileged to see him play live. The greatest City player of his era and one of the true greats of all time. RIP King Colin and condolences to his family.
