Colin bell

Does anyone realise how much seeing a thread simply entitled 'Colin Bell' with at least 4 pages of replies puts the shits on a blue?

Colin Bell was, and will always be, quite simply...The King.
I watched him in the latter part of his career, and the comeback game at home to Newcastle will stay with me forever...It was the loudest noise I have ever heard City fans make..and it went on, and on, and on...Grown men around me were in tears and singing we'll drink a drink a drink for a full 45 mins...F@ckin legend and for me never really given the respect he deserved on a world level, partly because of Englands failure to qualify for the 74 world cup and partly because he was a Blue.

One of his finest moments.

dunno, could say that about most of the England team at that time, remember him scoring 2 against the Czechs(who went on to win EC76)at wembley in 75.

To be fair how many of the rest of that England team would you say had Bell's potential for World Class Status at that time?

Shilton P L (Leicester City),
Madeley P E (Leeds United),
Hughes E W (Liverpool),
Bell C (Manchester City),
McFarland R L (Derby County),
Hunter N (Leeds United),
Currie A W (Sheffield United),
Channon M R (Southampton),
Chivers M G (Tottenham Hotspur),
Clarke A J (Leeds United),
Peters M S (Tottenham Hotspur) - Captain,
Sub: Hector for Chivers.

He's the king the king the king
He's Colin the king the king the king
He's the leader of our football team
He's the greatest
Inside forward
That the world
Has ever seen

The guy was, quite simply, a great player, and for all you young guns out there who did'nt see him play, he was poetry in motion.

The OP may only be 16, but it's fitting that Bells' standing amongst us older fans who remember him playing is rubbing off on them.

He was great for England as well as City.

The simple fact is.
No matter how much money we have. We could not afford Colin Bell.
The greatest footballer to ever pull on a sky blue shirt.

At the age of 49 I was priveleged to see him play as a kid in the late 60's and a teenager growing up in the early/mid seventies. I've seen everything since and can honestly say he is the best player I have ever seen in a City shirt.
what you're 99?

I too saw the king in his pomp and bawled like a baby at his comeback game.

for me there was only one player at that time that came anywhere near Bell, that was Alan Hudson

My Dad is 70 and saw the Busby Babes. He says the best players he saw were Duncan Edwards and Colin Bell.

When I was a kid in the seventies and a season ticket holder in the north stand ,a bloke sat near us started to slag him off (I know it seems unbelievable, but it did happen) one of the blokes sat near us called Mario couldn't take it any longer and sparked him out,and recieved a round of applause.Nothing to add to what most older blues have posted, the bloke was perfection in sky blue.
