Colin Shindler in the Mail

"Too many fans looked no further than the money"....this coming from a man who used our arch rivals name to sell his books..Shame on you Schindler.

I'm sure a few of our Irish friends will know this song with a few changes and apologies to the Dublin City Ramblers but every time I hear it I think these words.

An old man was sitting on a bench in Piccadilly
a young boy walked up and sat down beside him
the old man spoke and these are the words he said

I'm a part of old City a part of the struggling
and a part of old City that's heaven to me
I'm a part of the old days and a part of the old ways
and a part of Our City and City is me

I have known many good times and seen many bad times
but still dear old City is a treasure to me
I have seen many changes as our club rearranges
but the fans haven't changed much they're made of a rare stuff
they're part of Our City and City is me

I have travelled to far lands to places that aren't lands
but still dear old City kept calling to me
come home something tells me come home to Our City
come home to Our City for City is me

I will put my tissues away now.

The mans a tosspot, in one sentence he says " utd threw money at their problems to solve them " thought we were trying to do the same ! he goes on about his " love affair with city, i"m about the same age as him, i went to st marks west gorton, i can remember the few good times we have had, but my kids, and my grandchildren have seen nothing. so mr shindler, you cope with us being in the news on a daily basis how you want, me and thousands like me are going to enjoy the ride. !

Dear Mr Shindler.

our owners have done more for us in a few months than the rest put together, solid season ticket prices, a shirt to be worn with pride and a sense that the club are actually listening to us, I'm 35 and finally have been given the chance to watch some class players with a genuine chance of winning something, I have watched and loved the likes of paul stewart and kinkladze and had to feel the utter despair of watching them taken from us by clubs with more money, well our time has come for us thirty somethings and I fucking love it.

The world has changed, but if you went to the games you would know that us fans have not changed, blues look out for each other and stick together.

PS
Fuck off you big baby!

He;s a tit of the highest order.I;ve never read his stuff.I;ve heared of it.But people like that can only see a quick buck out of experiances, instead of living it.What does he f@cking want us all to be.A load of performing monkeys, while dreaming of better times in a romantic 1950;s back drop,to act as one big free advert for his books.F@ck off.Bet you wouldn;t spend a year by choice in Moss Side instead of your large detached in the Hales/Bowdons of the world. Some have no choice, some don;t go to the golden sands of the world x many times a year, finishing off with a skiing holliday.I;ll never live like that,I love my family but somtimes I want a second life and City fit that bill to a tee. They with the help of some stranger have taken me to the football fans "golden sands and skiing holliday".Given the choice I will gladly climb into bed with this freely giving whore rather than line the pockets of some spunging f@ckin pimp.

The fellas an absolute cock!!

Heard hom recently on 5 live debating the pro's n con's of our good fortune.

He did not have a good word to say about us.

This bloke would be happier if we were still at Maine road, playing shite football in the championship.

I swear I will never read anything this bloke has put to print!!

In his Manchester United Ruined My Life he stole the opening storyline about Bobby Kennedy being shot from our ex chairman Albert Alexander (according to Franny Lee). Shindler is a real ingrate. City fans made that book a bestseller and all he can do now is badmouth us in the press because we're not still in the sixties. The reality is, unpalatable as it may be to many, that without the Premier League, its media earnings & its attraction to new owners and investors as the top league in the world, football at all levels in this country would be in a lot more trouble.

Having enjoyed 'Manchester United Ruined My Life' I was interested to read Colin Shindler's article in the Mail, now I'm sorry I bothered.

If Shinawatra was still the owner, Shindler's argument may be relevant, but since ADUG tookover the club have embraced the fans and club history more than ever. The 'my first game' campaign dotted all round the ground. UEFA Cup 1/4 final v Hamburg, adults tickets £5, kids for a quid. Reverting to a retro kit, something the fans have desired for a long time. Screening the South Africa tournament on the club website. Holding a free open door event this week for the fans. Not to mention a reduction in season ticket prices this season. ADUG are not just committed to making City one of the best teams on the field, but off it too. Far from ripping the heart out of the Club, the optimism and excitement around City at the moment means it's heart is beating faster than ever!

The only time I've been concerned for City's identity was when Shinawatra was peddling the club as a PR exercise to distract from his questionable human rights record. I went to City v Villa at Eastlands and Birthday messages for the King of Thailand filled the big screen, now I've nothing against the old chap, but what the **** has the King of Thailand got to do with City?! Other bizarre stories circulated, but 'Frank' did one act of kindness to City.....selling the club to our current owners.

Sheikh Mansour and ADUG have not 'cloaked her(City) in the finest of silk dresses and doused her in the most seductive of Arabian fragrance' as Shindler embarrassingly states, instead they have cleaned her down, covered her up and sent her to finishing school. Examples of the way our owners conduct themselves can been seen in how quick they were to distance themselves from Sulaiman al-Fahim, after his comments following the takeover were deemed brash and arrogant. Garry Cook caused the club embarrassment by claiming that Milan 'bottled it' during the Kaka affair, as a result, City now conduct transfer's in privacy (or as much privacy as the agenda's of the other club's allow) mistakes might still be made but ADUG are keen to ensure they wont happen twice. ADUG have given no indications that we should be concerned for the club's identity, instead the gestures they've made to supporters are a refreshing change from the prawn sandwich culture defining other clubs.

Shindler should be glad his 'love' escaped the grubby paws of Shinawatra and found her way to the honourable suitor that is Sheikh Mansour. If Shindler can't share in the excitement and optimism currently surrounding City then he should get his doctor to hook him up with some Happy Pills, he clearly needs them.

This guy is spouting utter crap.

He writes about our trophy years as though they should and only be our golden age.

I spent my childhood in the midst of rag fans who just seen their team win the treble, does he actually realise how hard it was to defend your team when your rivals are miles ahead in terms of success and your celebrating a promotion to the old-new division one. Going into PE lessons in a city shirt knowing your going to be ridiculed off rag fans. I stuck with them though and never have i thought about abandoning 'my city'

My dad can only tell me about the likes of bell, summerbee and lee and the cups we won, the biggest trophy i seen us lift was what we now call the championship, and a 'good cup run' to me is the quarter finals of the UEFA cup, like most city fans i have adopted the 'typical city' mentality where im expecting us to shoot ourselves in the foot around every corner but this season i have gone about the pre-season with more optimism and a quiet reassurance over the team and where we are in terms of development, this is the first time ive actually seen managers show an un-comical interest in the progress of our team and the best is actual rag fans crapping themselves at the thought of 'ickle' city holding their own against the big boys and actually grabbing some much, much deserved silverware.

CTID!!

I'll see your Jewish persecution complex, Mr. Shindler and raise you my Irish, Catholic guilt complex...
What a bizarre and self-indulgent article you wrote, sir.
I'm genuinely sorry that your mum and your wife have passed on to their eternal reward. I am also genuinely shocked that you could milk their deaths in such a maudlin fashion, solely to pursue your very own thirty pieces of silver.
I too, have a baby, togged out in blue, on my knee, these days. Only thing is, I'm thrilled skinny that he's going to grow up in a world where supporting Manchester City Football Club is no longer seen as an exercise in mental, self-flagellation.
The world evolves; football and City with it. Get over it.
You writing, by the way, has always left me with the distinct impression that you regret choosing City over a certain other club (can you guess which one?). Regrettably, it's not an attractive trait, sir.
