Colonoscopy

I do anything I possibly can to avoid the doctors or anything medical, god knows how i'd go on if ever had to go through this.

I agree and it's not something i take any pride in.

I have always been he same and know that I am a prick for being this way, I have a couple of medical conditions at present and don't help myself.

You are not alone. I have however had the camera up the arse and the one down the throat. I would not indulge in either for kicks thats for sure. Both are unpleasant but nothing more.

As well as the obvious health benefits that may result from these unfortunate intrusions, it is worth having either or both done to furnish yourself with a hilarious tale that will have your mates laughing their bollocks off for hours, more so the ones that have been there and got the T Shirt.

These words of wisdom are coming straight from the genius who has been putting off the inevitable removal of my right big toe nail, that is now kicking off will have to be removed just in time for me to go off to the Balkans Portugal the Ukraine and Poland all within the 12 week recovery time it apparently takes to clear up. Its going to be a massive ball ache all because I have a thing about my toe nails. Perfectly happy to have root fillings crowns had stents in my heart, even have to inject myself once a week as i am doing a clinical trial. Despite this because I am an idiot having this nail off scares the shit out of me.

I went for one recently and they found a very large polyp, 60 cm's in dia. It was a messy thing to have cut out and I had a lot of bleeding afterwards.
This thing was pre-cancerous thank god but couldve changed anytime.
I had no symptoms just a routine colonoscopy, can I urge anyone on here over 50 to go for regular colonoscopies, and get any polyps removed, bowel cancer is a major killer here in Oz, in fact with all the processed foods the western diet consists off, its becoming a bit of an epidemic.
I'll be having another one in 2 years.
Excellent advice .I got mine sorted in Turkey excellent service and care

Had one of these recently. The prep was worse than the procedure, which was slightly uncomfortable but mostly fine.

I had one 3 years ago and they burnt a ltitle polyp out. They asked me to make a return in 3 years just for a check up, so I'm getting enough courage to do it again. It's not so much the camera(although it did make my eyes water) the thought of drinking that glupey seaweed salty sugary vile drink and having the 10 bob bits for two days fills me with utter dread.

Do it.

All good today, another one in two years time.
It's the first time I've had Moviprep. Usually I've had Picolax. The former was a delight, compared to the latter.
I'm told that Moviprep is to be superseded (locally )by something more efficient and of less volume. It will also allow you to take in a lunch or evening meal (depending on time of appointment ).
I'm not sure about elsewhere but this was the first time I've had to collect the bowel prep on prescription. Anyone else having to pay?
Talk about slipping it in through the back door!

I'll never forget the taste of Moviprep. It's like someone took flat lemonade and left it out in the sun for three weeks, extracted everything people enjoy from flat lemonade (which isn't much to begin with) and then put a drop of piss in it. Hideous stuff that I hope I never have to drink again.

This is spot on. One time I had to take this stuff for 2 days and all I was allowed to eat was jelly. Can’t touch jelly now as it reminds me of moviprep. Turns my stomach even thinking about it

The Moviprep experience was worse than the tube up my arse. Although I don't appreciate the occasional flashbacks of watching, on a 50" screen, seeing blades jab out of the tube to take several samples of my colon.

Never watch the screen - it’s a golden rule of mine

No pain, no gain.
I celebrated with a pint of Abbot ale and eggs benedict on black pudding, in Spoons this morning. Nectar of the gods.

I watch the screen every time as I want to know whats going on and see what state my bowel is in.

In regards to Movieprep, I always get it for free, never had to pay for it on prescription. As bad as it is, would rather have that than a Barium meal, that is the stuff of the devil. Because I am so tall, it takes forever to get into the small bowel and I have to sit there all day drinking untold amounts. Horrible stuff.

It's the first time I've had to get it on prescription. Having said that, it makes sense if a better service can be provided with the cost savings.
I was in and out within an hour, using Entonox.
Breath in. Arse out. Last one home's a sissy.

Movieprep wasn't so bad. Enduced a defecation of unimaginable intensity. Recommend full attention to the Sat Nav. Lunch after was the best ever.

Joking aside. Please don't avoid one. There's a variety of sedation available. It doesn't hurt and it may save your life or quality of life.
