Colour clashes and third kit

You can only where an away kit a maximum of 8 times a season unless it is necessary to wear it again but that is in the hands of the officials but they might see things differently from the manager and players so its just simpler to have a 3rd kit in case that happens

God I loved our third strip this season just gone, still kinda surprised with myself I opted for the away kit ahead of it. I hope those colours make another appearance.

Is there really a need for a third kit? I've just watched the highlights of City vs Chelsea in St Louis. Both teams wearing their home colours and NO colour clash. Apart from teams playing in sky blue, or with the same shorts and socks, are there any other opponents whose colours require City to don the away kit? The third kit just seems a means to get extra revenue in, although the grey/black one this past season was pretty damn cool.

I agree the 3rd kit is just about money & also, the grey/black stripes was pretty cool.
What an awful kit design to play in though! Such dark kits don't help you pick out your team mates.
Personally, I'd like to see a return of the black & red stripes for the away kit.

Yeah, I thought that get-up that Joe Hart had on last Sunday - all grey - was bloody grim!

Good point.I was stood on the Maine Road pitch once when it was empty with a backdrop of Blue seats and wondered how the hell you pick a teammate out if the fans have replica shirts on as well.

Must have been hard for the U****d players trying to pick out their teamates at 6 - 1 with all those Red seats.

If the 2nd kit is black as rumoured, a 3rd might be needed against teams like Newcastle. Watching the goals from the game last night, we looked like we were playing in all white from a distance at times.

What a stupid rule. May explain why City played in the dull bluey-grey 3rd kit last season (11/12) away to Villa rather than the contrasting red/black away colours.

Probably looked sufficiently different on the pitch, but on the telly in the pub the two strips were virtually indistinguishable!

I liked the past season's maroon strip as well, but nothing beats the cool and commanding sky blue or the fiery red & black. Classics. Other teams' strips are so boring!

Do you need to buy every new kit? hardly. I have a home kit from 4 years ago that I still only wear on matchdays. The home kit hardly changes year to year

I remember thinking that during match - that was terrible. The picture above in no way does justice to how hard it was to tell the sides apart on the broadcast.

Imagine the uproar on here if the Sheikh decided we were changing our home colours to red due to some Abu Dhabi link similar to what happened at Cardiff.

Would hope there would be a 50,000 crowd protest (at least) outside the ground if someone ever tried that with us!

Would prefer to be shit again and poor than rich and winning playing in red. Doubt Mansour would ever contemplate something like that though thankfully!
