Milner, Rodwell, Barry, Garcia, Yaya and Razak. All can and do play in the middle of midfield.

In your scenario, not only is Yaya not in our squad, but you want to add in another 2 central/defensive midfielders to the mix without selling any of the existing ones.

Yeah, it's totally realistic

That was a mistake I though I added Yaya in.

Milner never plays in the middle for us, Razak is shite and will be sold and Rodwell has fitness problems.

Kadongbia look a real talent as is available so we would be stupid not to sign him.

And with Bayern buying Gotze and having a massive squad already why not put a cheeky bid in for Gustavo he would be an upgrade on Garcia and Barry.

We need a 25 man squad capable of challenging on all fronts the lack of options this season has really let us down.
Maybe that's one of our problems

think omission of yaya was just a little mistake on his part as he doesn't put him in his "out" list. But, can we rely on Rodwell to be fit? Barry is getting older and Razak and Garcia are not good enough. Also, remember, it is not just ball winner we need, but we need someone else who can provide attacking drive and control besides Yaya. Think kondogbia is this kinda player and there is also Paulinho and Fernandinho as alternatives.<br /><br />-- Tue Apr 23, 2013 8:08 pm --<br /><br />

Prefer him out wide.

Agree to disagree on Jimmy

James Milner should not be anywhere near the middle of central midfield.
He will get sent off frequently, he is just not a good reader of he game like Barry and even Garcia and he isn't quick enough to make up for that deficiency. His passing is also not that great.
He is a decent right midfielder and sometimes attacking midfielder
Garcia will probably move to central defense
Leaving Rodwell (injury prone), Barry(older) and yaya. So 1 or 2 more midfielders are needed
Yaya could also be moved to attacking midfield permanently

Even though he won the PFA Young Player of the Year award and was also named in their team of the year whilst mainly being used as a central midfielder?

Milner is a good player, a very hardworking player. We need him to remain in our team.
However, his attributes are not suited to our central midfield. I just think that maybe he lacks the tactical nous or physical attributes that Mancini requires..
He has played in the middle a few time times and it hasn't worked out.
At Aston Villa, everything went through him and with yaya and silva in our team, that ain't never gonna happen. This means he will not be playing exactly the same position he was at Villa and he is not a defensive midfielder.
We could try him again, I hope he does well

We should improve the first team as priority and then the squad will become stronger no point in buying players to cover positions like we did this season.

IMO
Hart, Zab, Kompany, Nasty, Clichy, Yaya, Silva, Aguero pick themselves and we need 3 quality signings and 1 decent signing in defence to push Nasty and Kompany.

Add Cavani, Isco and another great DM to that team and we tick all the right boxes.

Two games spring to mind - Spurs at home last season and Sunderland at home this season. Milner played centre mid and was the best player on the pitch in both games.

If Barry, Garcia, Rodwell or Milner are competing for starting spots in this midfield next season, we'll get overrun again. None of them are good enough.

This is what Bayern's 3rd choice CM does against Real Madrid

I want anyone to honestly claim that those 4 can compete against that. Don't bother wasting money on world class forwards if we put Barry and Milner behind them.

Fair comment. None of our boys have that level of mobility. We desperately lack punch in that area. We don't want next season to be a re-run of this season in Europe.
