Champions League and Premier League games you only get 3,000 tickets for away games and there are more fans wanting to go than can get tickets for a meaningful game.
CS we have 30,000 tickets to sell for a meaningless game that there is no reason for it to be kicking off at 4pm on a Sunday.
I hope you and your kids enjoy the day. Just don't complain next year if it is a 7pm kick off. Your chance to protest against that is now.
I'd happily protest against our ticketing policy for the Real Madrid game or the uefa super league, when our own club shits on us. This one's not a fight that I'm bothered by. There's plenty of teams, and supporters who would love to be playing in the charity shield. Just think some if our fans are taking our success, and these games a bit much for granted.

Agree with you about our own ticketing policy.
Sadly the supporters club (of which I am a member) has too cosy a relationship with the club and therefore won't challenge the club on issues such as this.

Whoever goes or doesn’t go it’s no big deal.

This is the first Community Shield or Wembley trip, where the OSC Branch I run, hasn’t requested an allocation of tickets. Some members might buy their own tickets and good luck to them.

That’s one small sample but I think thousands who would normally attend the Community Shield won’t go. 5.30pm or 4pm isn’t a lot of difference because it’s still getting back from London at around midnight.

The game shouldn’t be at Wembley and and a Saturday would have been better. Credit to the Blues raising money for Manchester Food Bank
Out of interest which branch is that Tim ?

I know of certain branches ie blackley having barbecue get togethers etc on the day

Are people also gonna boycott all the 8pm Champions League games because it's unfair on all those away fans not being able to get home after the game? I'm also going to take the chance to take my kids to Wembley for the Charity Shield game. I would say changing kick off times is the price of success but I seem to remember some pretty shocking fixtures changes for TV when we were down in League one (or whatever it was called) as we were the only big team down there. Wasn't Wrexham a 12 noon kick off on boxing day? Don't remember us all compliaing then. In my view, we shouldnt be complaining about Charity Shield. We should still be celebrating the fact that we are winning all these trophies and getting down there so regularly.
Wrexham was 12 the 1993 derby was 11am and the home game v Everton 2005 City put on at 11am and attendance was 5,000 below capacity because it was Sun Jihai v Li Ti and we sold our soul to chinese TV

This is about the here and now and broadcast times getting out of control

Pep Ferran and Txiki are all catalan

Catalans stand up when it is right and when it’s time to make a point.

Pep wore his yellow ribbons everywhere

They will understand

It’s the Harrogate Branch. We are having a get together on the Community Shield day for our AGM and to have a few pints to celebrate last season.

No, because it’s not in London, and on a Sunday at 4pm.

If the CS was on Sunday at 4pm at Old Trafford, I’d go.

I wonder how many Arsenal fans would make the effort to go to Old Trafford on Sunday at 4pm?

As for the 8pm kick off, I’m not that arsed. As is a Saturday, straight into town after the match for a few beers. Then the 192 home. Either a few more beers or straight to bed. :-)

I’m sure town will be full of Geordies staying over and making a weekend of it. They will love it. We’d do the same if it was the other way around.
What an amazing attitude regarding 8.00pm kick offs ,wonder in the next 5 years when football goes 7 days a week just like COVID period ,hope your happy trecking off to Brighton , Bournemouth for an 8pm Thursday match ?
If the likes of ourselves that do every game are having second thoughts about carrying on doing aways there is an issue .
Most people only get a set amount of holidays per year with extra meaningless champs league games coming and many aways requiring over night stays something has to give ,

Its not the kickoff times the is your problem, because there are trains every half hour to Leeds on a Sunday up till 2253 from Kings Cross. East coast line is the best service in the country.

I’m just not that interested in the game but I might have gone. I’m not part of any official boycott: The cost of trains is extortionate for a pre season shield. At least they were when I looked at Leeds to London returns for the Brentford game:
