My first ever live City game was Monday night football ......... April 1970 !
Not live on TV though, I was there.

That was end of season congestion: City played four matches in 8 days: Shalke 04 (A) on Wednesday, Sunderland (H) on Saturday, Palace (A) on Monday and Southampton (A) on Wednesday.

I’m just not that interested in the game but I might have gone. I’m not part of any official boycott: The cost of trains is extortionate for a pre season shield. At least they were when I looked at Leeds to London returns for the Brentford game:

Thanks WARBABY. We ran a coach to tue FA Cup semi final and two for the final (we could have run 3). There just isn’t the interest for the Community Shield. Credit to anyone who goes and cheers on the lads.

One of my very early games as a lad was on a Monday night, 2nd May 1960. Burnley beat us 2-1, a win that gave them the Div 1 title.
Almost 66,000 in Maine Road that night.
Needless to say, that wasn't on telly either :-)
