They made 6 changes in that 2nd half. I really wouldn’t read too much into it. We were leggy and they seemed to be much fresher.

I don’t think they get within 10 points of us this season. Genuinely don’t. Last season they had the benefit of a lot of luck, and unless VAR is deliberately manufactured then they will lose that edge.

I don’t dispute they are a good team, or good at what they do, but I think we are much better.
They may not be as good as City but they’re still much better than the rest. They’ll not drop that many points, although their involvement in the FIFA world club cup could be costly for them. Unless we take 6 points from the head to head games though we’ll still be hoping for other clubs to take points from them, which I’m not hugely confident about. And as good as we are we’re not infallible. I think we’ll be ahead of them come May, but only by 4 or 5 points

mahrez ,had said to pep he wanted to be included in the squad, which is good imo, but city wouldn't let him because of something he was given whilst away with Algeria that may have got him a drugs ban :)WTF

So if we don't score in the first half Klippity has produced another masterclass! The Echo takes its place in the RDAHMeedya hierarchy!

from what i seen yesterday liverpool only had one player missing and that was mane, and that was pretty much their first team out yesterday unlike city missing 5 or 6 ?? so they think maybe they are closer to city because of that 2nd half hahahahah also maybe city have one new signing up their sleeve to come in still, so closer ???

pep pushed his players hard yesterday and could have made many changes like liverpool in that 2nd half, but pep is a master at knowing what he is doing and liverpool through everything at city and still lost, if i was klopp i would not be sleeping to well over the coming months. liverpool have to live up to this media thing that they are a world class team ready to win the league and get one over pep and city, well kloppy just go and watch the game again and see half of peps and city first team hold you off and beat you

that would be my first fear if i was klopp and 2nd would be KDB at 50% fit

That will do me !!

We tired in second half. The way City train (with the ball) possibly means it tales a bit longer to get to full fitness. Also, Liverpool are horrible to play against at the best of times. Also, I wouldn't be surprised when we rock up at Anfield to see both Rodri and Fern in midfield. Rodri looks like he will be a fine successor to Fern but we missed Fern's dynamism at times yesterday.

I wouldn't read too much into the game but we know enough about both teams already to expect there to be a battle for the title.

I don't think we would have lost anything going forward yesterday, by playing Fernandinho, but we would have probably ended Liverpool's contribution.

As I said in the match thread yesterday, only thing we found it is that they (stems from Klopp) still hate us, they run and run against us and they will blow the league again doing it as they have no game management, its just run like fuck, hoof wide and run to box over and over

For fucks sake.
Looks like City attacking a replica shirt wearing old men that aren't game. I wish I hadn't watched that.
A few going to get nicked for that .No point having a fight if the opostion dont want to know.

On yesterday’s evidence we are clearly behind on conditioning.
That ridiculous tour has meant we are well behind on fitness as they were unable to train properly because of the extreme humidity and jet lag. It certainly told in the second half.
For those numpties who question Pep leaving the majority of our starters on for 90 it was deliberately to help get their fitness levels up to where needed.
The management really do need to re-look at preseason schedules...

There’s probably more to them than that to be honest, hate them I much as anyone but they still managed the 3rd hishest points total in top flight history and won Champions league

When we were at the same level of fitness as Liverpool we were totally outplaying them. When our legs had gone and Pep kept to his plan of giving certain players 90 minutes even though they could barely break into a gentle jog then Liverpool were able to attack at will. Missed chances in our dominant phase prevented a more comfortable win.

It’s that lofted pass they do deep into the final third left or right that leaves and isolated full back. The centre back has to shuffle over to cover and then the rest of them crash the box. It must be a nightmare to defend that initial switch of the ball and track runners coming in behind you or in front of you if you are a centre half.

It’s hard to cut out the initial pass as it comes from any of the back four or a bit further forward, only way to combat it is to press high and stop the pass or do what Pep did last Autumn and play conservatively and hope the quality of the front three creates something.
