did I read it right,she was awarded 18,000 but appealed and got 20,000.

It's been going on for years depending on the type of insurance you used to have. I got shunted in the late 70's in a Morris Minor, got offered £1250, refused and settled on £1500.
2 Xrays later I had serious whiplash, ....yeah right !!!. A mates sister was involved in something similar and her dad claimed she could never play tennis again and she did quite nicely out of it. That fact that she didn't and couldn't play tennis at all made it all the more laughable.
