Indeed, that is the best response. As is the 11/12 season starting with a disappointing lacklustre loss in the Community Shield where we were apparently taught a Shrek-sponsored 'footballing lesson'. Clearly, this game means fuck all. You may have valid points elsewhere such as the problem of being the tallest nail i.e. everyone plays their best against the champions, teams stopping us scoring as much as they find ways to blunt Pellegrini's City (as again you might say happened in 12/13), tired players from the World Cup, continuing fitness/injury worries etc. etc. All of these are fair points. However, they have precisely fuck all to do with the Charity Shield, which is meaningless. By all means, make your call on how this season is going to go, personally I wait until the transfer window is over and we've had a few games of actual football, however, using the Charity Shield as a barometer as you yourself acknowledge is mightily problematic.Marvin said:The best response in this topic was that season opened with City playing well to beat Chelsea in the Community Shield at Villa Park
