congestion charge NO campaign

i live near hollins road , oldham . if i want to go to tesco in failsworth , or visit family in blackley , i have to pay a fee . what the fuck has that journey got to do with city centre manchester traffic congestion ? and all this bollocks about stopping the charge once the loan has been repaid in 2030 . once it's in , it's in for eternity .
it's got fuck all to do with congestion , it's all about REVENUE .
if it does get voted in , watch the congestion charge increase dramatically . just like poll tax/council tax charges did .
the way the council have introduced road traffic measures have undoubtedly increased congestion on key routes in and out of the centre . ( traffic islands/bus lanes/traffic light timings/new road markings/etc/etc ) this congestion charge was thought about years ago .
90% of proposed 'new' tram routes are already on existing track .
i could go on and on and on , but i can't be arsed . i won't be changing my mind .
i'll be voting a big fat NO .

( make sure you get your voting literature in november through the post . the vote is a postal vote . you must be on the electoral roll to be able to vote )

Would you seriously go to tesco or visit family during the charging hours? Morning or evening?

He should have the option to without having to pay a congestion charge.

My mum looks after my niece on a Friday so my brother (who lives in Dukinfield so outside the outer ring) drives to her house (which is Stockport so inside the outer ring) drops off his daughter and then drives back out of the ring to go to work in Mossley. He does the same journey in the evening to collect his daughter and go back home. Now he goes NOWHERE near the centre of Manchester, in fact my mum lives 5 miles out from the City Centre, but he'd have to pay the charge to enter the outer ring in the morning, and to leave the outer ring in the evening. It's a farce.

How come the London congestion zone is so much smaller than the proposed Manchester one? The London equivalent would be making the M25 their zone marker! If, and I am not backing ANY charge for a minute, we were to have thid imposed on us, it should only be within the inner ring road area? A total p*ss -take I reckon.

Stockport and Dukinfield are outside the outer ring meaning you wont get charged. You wont even get charged for using the M60. You only get charged if you attempt to travel into town after coming off the motorway.

Ill be voting yes either way and have encouraged everyone i know to do the same. We wont get this kind of investment in public transport EVER, especially now since Economy has gone to pot

They have promised to put the improvments in before they start charging (2013?).

Conservative only want to spend that kind of money putting a super fast train link to london? Why the frigg do i care about that?

Oh well as long as they PROMISED, because they would never lie would they?

Its quite a big thing to lie about. I have no reason to believe it wouldnt all be finished by then.

I got 'public transport' back to Rochdale from Manchester last night after the game. The No.17 bus. Not late bus, one soonest after got back into town. It was full, and had to go upstairs. A group of youths (in standard Hoodie/cap/shell suit type uniform)were rolling and smoking joints. A group of young teen girls were pissed drinking from cans of Stella crap 'toons' blaring from three different mobiles, offering the youths 'blow jobs' for a joint, and two East European drunks were having a huge row too. And me with ten year old nephew. Oh yes, I SO want to be using public transport more mate!

From our former PM...

Iraq has chemical and biological weapons, that Saddam has continued to produce them, that he has existing and active military plans for the use of chemical and biological weapons, which could be activated within 45 minutes

I think promising to stick a few extra buses on the road is small fry in comparison

With the TIF you could of got a tram to Rochdale. Much less chance of coming across yob.

Do explain, as I don't see why the yobs would avoid a tram tbh.

And why would we not be lied to. Isn't the Iraq lie enough for you? If they can tell a lie that effectivley kills off thousands of Britons, they wouldn't think twice about robbing them.

You mean the tram that will go via Oldham, making the existing train still far quicker? Plus I can get off at Castleton and walk home. The tram would mean a cab or bus ride from Dale centre in addition. And believe me, the trains I have used are no better re the yobs. Nor the Trams, from what mates in Alty say. (IF they get put in anyway)
My vote is NO!

Trams are much bigger than buses, you can probably avoid scum of society better?

Top deck buses have always been a problem, using it as an excuse not to use public transprt is a bit lame. If you cant handle the top deck antics dont go up there. Simple!

Its a bit pointless comparing Iraq to the TIF, at least it made me smile.

1) Read the post, the bottom deck was full, so he had to go upstairs (as is often the case), and trams would get just as full, so you would have to go near to the vermin aswell.

2) How is it pointless? If they can lie without batting an eyelid about somehting so big, why wouldn't they about robbing from the public? Give me a real answer, and not just an "it's pointless, it's different" bollocks.

I had to go uspstairs, as downstiars was full, and wasn'r prepared to stand all the way to Rochdale with a tired ten year old kid.. FFS, do you hear yourself?! The upstairs is a no go area is it? Are we to surrender the top deck to the scum then? How about reserving a carriage on the trams and trains for them too?
Public transport is dirty, unreliable, and dangerous. It's the car for me everytime.

Not wishing to piss on your chips but who, out of the two of us, do you feel is best placed to say where my mum lives? She lives in Reddish, which is Stockport, and is most certainly INSIDE the M60 ring road. Stockport Town Centre, and SOME areas of Stockport fall outside the M60 ring, but equally other areas of Stockport (Reddish, all the Heatons etc) lie within the M60.

And as for the proposed improvements, I've seen their inital ideas and none of them benefit me. The tram doesn't come within 4 or 5 miles of where I live so that's discounted straight away, there are NO planned improvements in the buses where I live, no new services, same number of buses, just more people, so that's no improvement. They have promised to improve the trains. I say the trains, they've promised ti improve the facilities at my local station!!! So fucking what?!!! It's got a building to buy tickets from, it's got a roof to shelter you from the rain, what else do I need from a station? Newer, better, more trains, trains that actaully arrive when they say they will, and have enough room to get on them, THAT'S an improvement. THAT'S not what they've said we'll get. So, essentially, I'm being asked to pay money for a service that I'll never use, and that won't actually be improved for me.

No thank you.

I love how on the adverts it only shows people who dont drive, i.e old people and students.

They dont have a license, so this shouldn't concern them.

If this goes ahead and the vote was deemed a success in-favour, then its been fudged.

Fuck off Government, im English so you dont care.
