No, YOU'VE missed the point.philphenol said:Matty said:As a car driver who never uses public transport why exactly should I be paying up to £1000 a year towards it's upkeep and improvement when someone who uses it on a daily basis isn't paying a penny extra?
Matty said:It's a FACT that I will have to pay hundreds if nor a thousand pounds a year towards a system I'll never use whereas someone who uses it daily will have to pay NOTHING extra towards it. I'd say that's an anti-congestion argument based on FACTS. Explain the fairness in that?
You won't pay extra if you leave your car at home, FACT! The idea is to get people to use public transport or have you missed the point!
1 - Why SHOULD I have to use public transport? It's MY CHOICE to use a car. If I chose NOT to use public transport then why should I have to PAY towards it?
2 - The proposed improvements in public transport will bring NO trams near where I live. They will add NO extra buses, or bus routes. They will add NO extra trains or larger trains. The only 'improvement' being mentioned for where I live is to revamp the train station. So fucking what?!!! Ther service will eb just as shit, I'll just be able to stand waiting in slightly better conditions.
So, I ask again, bearing in mind public transport is not currently any good for me, and won't be any good after the charge comes in either, why should I have to pay towards it?
And answer me this too, if I was to use public transport on a daily basis why SHOULDN'T I have to contribute extra towards it's improvement? I'm the one benefitting, yet I'm not putting my hand in my pocket to do so.
