Dont understand the need for the outer ring. Traffic in london is much worse and they only have a city centre congestion charge. Where i live in walkden the proposals do little to persuade me to vote yes. Also on the info packs in the media the charge of 1 or 2 pounds has a little asterisk next to it saying based on 2007 prices. If this goes through the charge could be much higher.

Were getting a car parking levy in Nottingham,

Anyone who works in the city center will be charge £179 a year for parking there. NO ONE is exempt and two major companies are moving out of nottingham because of it. We've already started negotions with our company over who's paying it and alternatives to get staff into work.

It will benefit you in the short term, maybe. But you then also lose the right to complain about companies putting prices up for, well, anything, seeing as they are only covering the cost that you have forced upon them.

This is what people don't see, the bigger picture. Any company based within Greater Manchester will have numerous shops that require deliveries etc, the cost of these will increase with the charge. Who do you think this cost will be passed on to? Everyone, regardless of whether you drive or not. As a driver it will be tantamount to paying the congestion charge twice, once to drive and then once to cover the cost to companies.

But i fully expect the official ballot to go the councils way , even though i reckon far more people will vote against it .... they have a way of 'manipulating' a situation such as this.

I'm not in favour of it, i live in an area of Gtr Manchester that has been starved of a good transport system for years but this is due to poor town planning & won't change. The nearest train station isn't definitely not in walking distance, nor is it possible to build one nearby.

For my area there is only one change to the system, a guided bus route from Wigan to Hindley - Atherton - Tyldesley - Salford - Manchester every 15 minutes. Now, this time last year we had two bus routes the '32' & the '33' that ran every 15 minutes alternatively through Tyldesley. These two bus route were stripped out about 10 months ago and i believe the '33' only runs after 6pm now. I'm not paying for two bus routes they ripped out to be reinstated.

Travelling to City for evening games will be hell cos everyone will sit till 6:30 when the charges stop, and then go, causing the already bad traffic down M602 & Regent Rd to become worse.

I'll be voting 'no', thanks.

Is this actually true?!!! If so it's an absolute farce, an abstention should be treated as just that. If you can't be arsed to vote, or if you don't know which way to vote then it's a completely acceptable position to take to simple not fill in your voting slip. It DOESN'T mean you're in favour of the changes.
