Being a member of our armed forces does not make someone a hero.

The national news should stop feeling obliged to report every military death ('a British soldier has been killed in Helmand Province') unless something exceptional has happened.

Hmmmm....its whether you accept that they fully understood what they were getting into when they signed up. They are led to believe that they will get
1)the best kit and
2)the best care should things go wrong.

From my experience the only people who get the

1)state of the art body armour are the MP's who visit (or walk round their own constituancies)
2) ride in a helicopter rather than the snatch landrover are the MP's who visit

As far as I am concerned the majority of the lads who are out their are too young / too inexperienced (probably not now though as some of them are on their third tour- despite the fact that they have not had sufficient R&R) /

not supported by an overbloated MOD. (3 Civil servants for every soldier)
