Cook is a clever guy and given a lot of unfair stick!

Do you not think his squirming was a tad embarrassing at the conference yesterday? Press have got a major issue with him because he clearly hasn't been telling the truth about Hughes' dismissal and refused to answer questions on the subject.

Just got to give Mancini our full support now. Still doesn't stop Cook being a clown.

considering he had to face those wolves baying for blood no. It was not his decision to sack hughes and he did not deliver the news. i suppose you would have handled it better ?

he had to sit there and take that shit and i appreciate him for doing it !

Like Hughes was responsible for how we performed on the pitch, Cook is responsible for news management and the promotion of our club
through the media.
He failed by not recognising the big news story after Hughes sacking and thinking he would get away with it by having Mancini beside him.
He should have protected Mancini at this early stage and held a seperate conf in the morning to address the mis management of the
Hughes dismissal.
He would have then allowed Mancini to have a more constructive conf.
A man of his experience should have recognised this and dealt with it.
Now, like Hughes, he is accused of under performing in HIS role.

didn't the chairman tell hughes he was sacked?

Yes it was the Chairman who sacked him and the chairman who wanted him sacked. Cook just had to deal with the after mas. Give the guy a break!

Correct.

The sacking was the right thing to do, and I don't blame Cook for the way it leaked.

But the press conference was shite and did the club no favours.

Dealing with press isnt his strong point-we need a press spokesperson to keep Cooky out of the firing line

hes doing a good job-only a bellend would disagree

he was ambushed yesterday. it was always going to be a witch-hunt, whatever he said.

did it do any damange to mancini? can't see it myself.

a mistake, perhaps, but I can't see any lasting damage. he will always be the target, but no-one else at city ever seems to step up to the plate at times like these. he should have had at least one more board member alongside him and the press officer.

people should count their blessings with cook. he has got many things right since he came. if his PR profile really does outweigh having a more reactive, fan-focused, creative, ground-breaking club, a website, marketing campaigns and kit to be proud of, then so be it. but you can't let the media hound him out. shift him sideways and give someone else the sodding microphone.

khaldoun, where the fuck are you?

That's a good point. We probably need a top class PR guy..Being a good businessman doesn't make you good PR guy and vice versa

Dealing with the press isn't his strong point? You're telling me.

Unfortunately it's what he's paid handsomely to do on behalf of the club.

We are not fucking Wycombe Wanderers.

well said! A few months ago during the summer everyone was saying how fantastic he was for getting all these players signed and delivered, Tevez specifically after 'the hug'.

A lot of people have very short memorys, they only tend to remember the last 48 hours, its quite worrying really!

I don't believe this.

He is the fucking PR guy. That's why he was hired.

If I can't do my job I get the sack, someone doesn't get paid to work alongside me to cover my tracks.
