Do you not think his squirming was a tad embarrassing at the conference yesterday? Press have got a major issue with him because he clearly hasn't been telling the truth about Hughes' dismissal and refused to answer questions on the subject.

Just got to give Mancini our full support now. Still doesn't stop Cook being a clown.

Like Hughes was responsible for how we performed on the pitch, Cook is responsible for news management and the promotion of our club
through the media.
He failed by not recognising the big news story after Hughes sacking and thinking he would get away with it by having Mancini beside him.
He should have protected Mancini at this early stage and held a seperate conf in the morning to address the mis management of the
Hughes dismissal.
He would have then allowed Mancini to have a more constructive conf.
A man of his experience should have recognised this and dealt with it.
Now, like Hughes, he is accused of under performing in HIS role.

well said! A few months ago during the summer everyone was saying how fantastic he was for getting all these players signed and delivered, Tevez specifically after 'the hug'.

A lot of people have very short memorys, they only tend to remember the last 48 hours, its quite worrying really!

I'm really not sure about that. His previous roles don't suggest he's had any great experience in PR. He was employed for his expertise in sports licensing and marketing, if anything.

This whole managerial change was always going to be a nightmare from the minute it leaked on Saturday. However, Cook has been very clever in how he's dealt with it, he read an exact statement that was well prepared and printed on the City website with the soul purpose of meaning papers couldn't print whatever they wanted.

It was impossible for them to find any inconsistencys or lies in it because of this (which they have just decided to print anyway!) and it means that city now have hard proof of what was said and then what was reported...

...i.e. I think unless some retractions appear in tomorrows papers some people are going to get sued!

I respect Garry Cook a lot and I think he does a great job, a lot of people give him a hard time but the simple fact is we are more professional than we have ever been, we are better run and most importantly MORE IN TOUCH WITH THE FANS!

They are two distinctly different roles. The CEO of the company I work for is a top class business man but we have a Media relations director who deals with all the press.
I'm sure cookie is better than most but someone like Max Clifford as an example would be far better.

Cook has done nothing wrong yesterday when he realized what going on. Press try to say that we have offered job 2 weeks ago that is their agenda, they are there not to broadcast our news, they want to catch a lie and fxxk our press conference and sell their own news

He took it on the chin for the chairman not getting a plane over here earlier, and not being around to handle the aftermath. I'd think he's Khaldoun probably feels he owes him one. Cook will have been given targets as well, i.e increase turnover by 20%. If he doesn't meet them then he'll be out. But not because of a crappy performance at a press conference.
