Cook is a clever guy and given a lot of unfair stick!

That actually sums it up rather sucinctly. I think his days are numbered.
Cobblers, if nothing else 'football is a business' - well done Cook.

Well done for stating the bleedin obvious?

The guy has hung his hat on Hughes and 18 months has said in a round about way short of admitting he got the appointment wrong and that his own judgement on him was flawed and I wish he would be man enough to say he got it wrong.

That's showing a bit of honesty and at least he could be given credit for his mistake.

If he gets Mancini wrong as well then we should be able to say with confidence that he cannot be party to the choice of a good manager at this club and rather than getting rid of Mancini he should think long and hard about getting rid of himself.

I have always maintained that a good CEO knows how to pick a manager that gets the best out the players and resources at his disposal.

The job CEO should not exust in the first place, not a go at cook it just shouldn't,if we bring in a DOF aswell that will further dilute what is a non-existant job.

all the fantstic work that has been done in merchandising/marketing/fan liason etc is ignored due to the several embarrasing and highly public cock ups that Cook has been responsible for.
Im sure he is a highly intelligent man, but his gaffes have been those of a junior halfwit - not a hugely paid CEO of a major business. The decison of whether to handle the PR is his alone. Maybe he thought it better he was seen to front what was always going to be a difficult press conference - it was patently obvious the media were going to want their say about the manner of Hughes sacking. So having taken the decision to handle it, he should have done so well - and he did not.

Ive no agenda agaisnt Mr Cook - far from it, I think the time and effort he has put in in attending many supporters functions has been exceptional, and where city are in terms of the kit and its absolutely top class marketing is a joy. But handling our public image has been piss poor. The press have their knives out anyway - we are threatening the cosy top 4, we have new money, we could threaten to shatter the image we have established as being a bit of a joke and so mean our label doesnt fit any more - but that needs a careful strategy and day to day management - which if in place, is undermined by these regular cock up. It needs sorting. Either Cook starts getting it right in public or he lets some else handle it. Because we cannot afford to keep serving up ammunition to our knockers

Taken from the urban dictionary

garry

Modern common London rhyming slang. Short for garry glitter which rhymes with shitter. The arsehole, the bum, the rectum.

"She/he was getting a severe portion right up the garry"

he is a business man, not a football man. that is his fundamental weakness and it is blatantly obvious. cant see him at city much longer tbh, next mistake and hes out.

The Guy is a joke and totally embarassing him,Marwood and Kidd will hopefully be next before they cause any more embarassment to the club.

To be fair to Garry, whilst he may be an intelligent and experienced businessman, he isnt a football man and in my opinion, doesnt understand how the game works which is leading him to embarrass himself/ enrage others when he is put under the spotlight

He isn't doing it on purpose and some of the stick he gets on here is disgusting.

i have met once cook, seemed a decent bloke, gift of the gab, a charmer etc. done a lot to bring city closer to the fans, but...

i would say having a CEO that is good at handling the press is quite important. just my opinion. as is the ability to handle large players transfers between clubs. one thing for certain is that citys image is now tarnished and the press have got the knives out for him. when the dust has settled and the sheik decides he wants to give the club a 'new' image, cook will be the one to go. he was the mouth piece at the press conference, he will be the fall guy.
It would be a shame if he were to go-that blonb piece Vicky kloss should become his press correspondant

And for some people to class him as a trainer salesman is just crass.

You do know that Vicky is a blue angel, don't you? 7 years at the club and fluent in Latin. Ideally qualified to succeed Garry (should he be promoted)

If she was the one that shut the press up everytime she jumped in to bail cook out then i agree.
Is that the one we are talking about.????????????

Sums it up for me.

His inexperience within the beautiful game has been his achilles heel, but should not be the basis for for the amount and depth of abuse he has suffered on here.
