The guy has hung his hat on Hughes and 18 months has said in a round about way short of admitting he got the appointment wrong and that his own judgement on him was flawed and I wish he would be man enough to say he got it wrong.
That's showing a bit of honesty and at least he could be given credit for his mistake.
If he gets Mancini wrong as well then we should be able to say with confidence that he cannot be party to the choice of a good manager at this club and rather than getting rid of Mancini he should think long and hard about getting rid of himself.
I have always maintained that a good CEO knows how to pick a manager that gets the best out the players and resources at his disposal.
