Coronation of King Charles 3rd

I didn't watch any of it, for me all the privilege and class system should be got rid off. I see the coronation and royal weddings as a massive PR exercise to make people proud of these historic institutions like royalty and entitlement. It's like a west end show on a massive scale aimed at making you patriotic (and it works).

It surprises me that City fans in the main seem to buy into it really.
City fans in the main were always made up of (like me) working class people, I'm surprised that a family that owns a whopping 20 properties in the UK, including Castles, sprawling private estates, palatial manors, regal mansions and cosy cottages plus thousands of acres of the best of British countryside (while Brits struggle to pay their gas bill in their semi) are so revered just for being born into privilege.
As someone mentioned it would have been a generous gesture if the new King had decreed that he would pay for the whole thing, but he didn't.

My take on this is that everyone should be born equal, not with inherited titles, titles that are designed to make us feel subservient. But it seems I'm in a minority as the majority of my fellow Brits are in favour of it all!!

I'm truly glad that you all enjoyed the day and service.

I take heart that a few famous people I admire have refused knighthoods and honours. And the fact that although it's billed as the biggest show in town, not all British people wanted to buy a ticket.
Commie bastard ;-) But yes you are right !! Orwell did get it right with Animal Farm and 1984.

Nobody does pageantry as good as the British.

Millions of pounds of tourist revenue flowing into the country due to the way we have preserved our history.
Maybe but yesterday was very awkward for me, a very expensive fancy dress party with nervous and awkward participants.

The highlight was the gospel choir, superb, enjoyable and "real"

Congratulations to our King and his beautiful Queen.

And may all the people who have hurt themselves overthinking it today get a decent bowl of porridge and a smile from mommy tomorrow morning.

One day in the not to distant future every inch of our culture will be gone.

No monarchy, no Christian faith, no recognition of our history.

We’ll become as dull as dishwater. Bring on the day!
Yeah, bring on the day when we’ve lost the ability to be openly proud of our faith and our history…. The day when the country really will have gone to the dogs…

It’s on a downhill slope now but I’m glad that somebody will enjoy the fucking mess it eventually settles in

We're in a minority now, but that minority has steadily burgeoned over the last decade. Royalism isn't as fervent as it was when my grandparents were in their youth. I remember a poll on here after the Queen died and being stunned at the percentage in favour of a republic. The inevitable will happen; Australia and Canada will jettison themselves from this charade in the next twenty years and that will be the start. You hit the nail on the head, the majority who arselick these fuckers seem to be those under the boot of continual hardship and social struggle. And those that do support will fervently moan about the NHS and schools being underfunded, roads and public travel being in disrepair, etc. It's hard to rationalize.

The monarchy will be done within a century. It just galls me that I won't be around to see it.

This comment is moronic, people are f*cking idiots and is why we should never hold a referendum ever again. How does holding a sword qualify you to be a great leader?
