That AZ vaccine news released today is simply brilliant, it means things will open up in a month of two and they will stay open, I cant see any need for further lockdowns, try and ignore the doom-mongering media and try and stay positive. We are nearly there I am sure of it.

Half the patients in ICU are under 60.

The vaccine will have little effect on ICU figures for a while yet. The lockdown will, but that of course reverses if we open up.

So, if we open up too soon, the virus will sweep through U70s in no time and we'll be locked down again.

Plus, if we have a major wave with the country having mainly one vaccination not two we create perfect conditions for immune escape mutations.

Patience. We can start opening up in a month, yes, but need to keep on top of cases, and need to get the vaccination process much nearer completion. I hope we've learned the hard way that rushing into opening up only makes things worse.

Some positive news

2 of my customers today, one a paramedic in manchester, t’other a nurse at macc

BOTH said cases , call outs , admissions etc are noticeably falling now. Over the last 2-3 weeks its been a decent difference

News like that lifts me

Yep. My wife is a paediatric community nurse so not front-line by any stretch but other nurses who work on the same package as her have been going off to work in hospitals over the past couple of months. As a result she has been getting hammered for requests to cover extra shifts. Those requests have noticeably dwindled in the past couple of weeks!

Nearly everyone - well maybe not that high but huge numbers on our site have had it. Honestly 60 percent plus officially and i am sure loads more back in March. There has to be a huge factor that they cant get it again

22 Days after the first AZ jab and there are no hospitalisations is the thing we need to focus on.

When all the at risk groups are done we can and should open up.

Otherwise whats the point of vaccinating people.
