I thought there were no flights to India. If I'm wrong we've really fucked up. This and foreign travel in summer will really screw us over. I've said before from the position we have now we need to close international travel as much as possible until next year. Only this way can we hope to beat it

GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Oldham 61 / 49 UP 12 Testing positive 9.7%

Rochdale 53 / 49 / UP 14 Testing positive 9.5%

Manchester 52 / 39/ UP 13 Testing positive 9.5%

Bolton 42 / 45 / Down 3 Testing positive 9.0%

Wigan 42 / 31 / UP 11 Testing positive 8.8%

Trafford 37 / 21 / UP 16 Testing positive 6.9%

Tameside 35 / 29 UP 6 Testing positive 8.0%

Salford 35 / 22 / UP 13 Testing positive 8.9%

Stockport 31 / 26 / UP 5 Testing positive 7.1%

Bury 29 / 24 / UP 5 Testing positive 9.0%

Only Bolton managed to stay down week to week as its numbers have really tumbled and not having a negative number to overcome last week helped too. Stockport, Bury and Tameside got away with low rises and whilst Trafford suffered the biggest rise as its numbers have been going up for a while bit by bit. The good news is though that nobody had a terrible outcome from the inevitable consequence of the removed cases last Friday and it will get better from now on if they keep that up.

Is the advice not to get a confirmatory PCR test?
It's ridiculously hard to find the actual guidance and certainly the latest rules don't really mention it

Do I need a confirmatory PCR test following a positive LFT?

From 30th March the following changes will take place:

Contacts of positive cases, who are not experiencing symptoms, will be offered a PCR test which they can book on the www.gov.uk website (or through 119). This testing will be via a home PCR testing kit. A negative PCR test result will not release the contact from self-isolation. A positive PCR test result will extend their self-isolation as they must isolate for 10 days from the date of the positive test.

This is what gov.uk says

Rapid lateral tests at a test site

If you took a rapid lateral flow test at a test site and the result was positive:

Continue to self-isolate until you get the result of the PCR test. Follow the advice you’re given when you get the result.

In England, if you do not take a PCR test within the next 2 days of a positive rapid lateral flow test, you must self-isolate for 10 full days even if you get a negative PCR result.

You're waisting your time. New 'Scariants' are the flappers delight.

absolutely not, it's all over the major news and being talked about by many scientists and professors as an area to be concerned about, i'm sure you called anyone who highlighted the Kent variant, the Brazilian variant etc as flappers aswell - absolutely praying there's no new variants that could evade the vaccine or weaken the Vaccine , but a double mutation from India has been found in the UK, it's a concern and it's hardly surprising some will talk about it in a thread about Covid

The "major" news drives its own scariant agenda. The "major" news drags in scientists and professors to fit it's scariant agenda. The "major" news thrives on a scariant agenda.
In short. No scariant. No news.

If it wasn't for the major news then god knows what the death toll would be.
yes they can create hysteria at times - but covid was downplayed by the majority for a long time whilst the media was all over it.
after 127+ thousand deaths the 'scariant' agenda seemed to be pretty conclusive.
after everything that's happened - a new variant that could possibly weaken or evade certain vaccines is certainly news worthy.

I read before that you can pay for a test on day 5 to release early but if your day 8 test is negative you still have to wait the full 10 days. Bonkers.

in other news, new mutant variant. Stay locked up all!
