GM Weekly Pop Data after today:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Bolton 381 / 440 / DOWN 59 Testing positive 10.5%

Salford 132 / 29/ UP 103 Testing positive 9.2%

Bury 129 / 58 / UP 71 Testing positive 9.3%

Manchester 129 / 60 / UP 69 Testing positive 9.9%

Rochdale 94 / 47 / UP 47 Testing positive 9.8 %

Wigan 89 / 42 / UP 47 Testing positive 9.1%

Stockport 82 / 17 / UP 65 Testing positive 7.3%

Trafford 76 / 46 / UP 30 Testing positive 7.2 %

Oldham 75 / 31 / UP 44 Testing positive 9.9%

Tameside 62 / 20 / UP 42 Testing positive 8.3

Big rises continue and will until at leat mid week when we reach the point where the numbers escalated big and then hopefully they might settle down.

Salford as you see appears the place nowhere is talking about in quite a bit of trouble. A week to week rise of 103 is very unusual. And not in a good way.

But as you see only Bolton going the right way in any sense at the moment.

Hopefully nothers will follow quicker as they were caught early.

Great to see these queues for vaccines at Twickenham today. It's just a real pity that for the most part it will be 8-12 weeks before these folks are now protected such as the influence Delta variant has had on almost nullifying the first doses.

It's frustrating that the English figures are not broken down in terms of age ranges in the same way as Scotland's are (thanks to Ayshire Blue) as it would help in the push to target the people who need to be vaccinated.
Not just Scotland. N Ireland do too and you will find I regularly post age breakdown there.

But these are now so low in numbers (just 500 or so in a whole week - it was 10,000 not that long ago) that day to day little moves.

I will post again tomorrow as full data from N Ireland has been missing over the long weekend as they always do at weekends anyway now.

But last time I looked (Friday) these were the numbers there. Did not post then as they were little changed from a couple of days before when ( did post.

AGE / CASES / % of TOTAL

0 - 19 / 196/ 37.8%

20 - 39 / 205 /39.6%

40 - 59 / 89 / 17.2%

60 - 79 / 15 / 2.9%

80 PLUS / 13 / 2.5%

As you see and as has been true with the posting of this every few day for months the gulf is widening.

By FAR the most people carching it now are under 40 - so mostly unvaccinated - versus a tiny number over 60 - mostly double vaccinated.

In January these numbers were something like 28% over 60 and 30% under 40. A vdery big switch that is why hospital numbers and deaths have plumetted.

The government WILL of course know the England data and some is available.

A week or so back I posted some data comparing GM boroughs with Bolton on age ranges of those testing positive.

They only give over 60 and under not a wider breakdown aside from a heat map that does give broader age ranges you can look at there,

But in essence the data even in GM is much the same as Scotland and N Ireland Small numbers over 60. Big numvers under 40.

Latest Bolton data - 7 days up to 26 May

Cases

1067 under 60

46 over 60.

As I said the same pattern as Scotland and N Ireland and in other places in England

The heatmap for Bolton breaks it down to 5 year age ranges

You look at that and you can literally see the numbers in ages slide downward as the colours change when vaccinations of older ages continue across the past few months

I tried to download it here but it said it was too large a file.

But you see the darker colour for most cases just descend down the age ranges as we vaccinated more - visually showing why we are winning.

Every sympathy with the hospitality and travel industries. Yet again they are going to be shafted by the government it seems.
This rule of 6 is depressing and makes nights out not worth it for a lot of people.
When will they stop moving the sodding goalposts?

Especially when the governments fuck ups have made the situation with this Indian variant worse.

One of the depressing things is that people will put up with it again.

Not sure mate.
June 21st is enough for me and a lot of others. People won't tolerate another delay and that's not surprising.
Think their will be a lot of unrest, the vaccines were meant to be the way out. Its a never ending circus now.

I'm talking about people hopefully not voting these fucking idiots in again. Not rioting.

Just to be clear pal.

Having said that, their ineptitude would be partly to blame for people being dicks as well.

Latest update from dr John Campbell is rather depressing..he's says 21st June opening to be delayed. Doesn't look good folks

Without being accused of racism, but what is the take up in the Asian community? I have heard it is slow and they do seem a little blaise (sp) about wearing masks especially as earlier in the pandemic the experts were saying they were more susceptible to the virus

He's also very concerned about this Vietnam variant..not good

Stupid question on this one perhaps, but looking to clarify something on the variant found in Vietnam. The big concern seems to be that it combines characteristics of the variants found in the UK and India. But if the variant found in India transmits much more than the variant from the UK and has a bigger effect on the vaccines, doesn't that render it more dangerous in every aspect than the UK variant anyway?

What I'm trying to say is, the UK characteristics don't actually add anything of relevance here?

The vaccine take up is low..

“When Will they stop changing the goal posts”

easy answer is the virus changed the goal posts by transmitting faster.

if the situation changes you have to change with it. Simple.

“adapt or die” is a term for a reason throughout all areas of life, climate, viruses, businesses etc.

As most Asians aren't muslims, I doubt Allah can be the only/main reason.
