There was no need for her to travel. She has a sister living a lot closer to her parents than she does. Also, this just happened to occur on her birthday? Riiight.
But if it had been Amanda Smith from Bury who threw a party in her dad's house as he was lonely and to hell with the rules as they are 'mean to my family' then would it have made the news?

The story should be the story not the storyteller.

I think I can accept someone in those circumstances fessing up and agreeing she acted hastily amid what would have been a huge dilemma for any one of us.

We should not be going after her because she is a celeb - the only reason this is even newsworthy and not 99% of the similar stories that happen every day with people who do not give a stuff that they acted this way or even think they did anything wrong.

Happily I was never a celeb or anything like one but I have faced tabloids making up stories or exaggerating truth into a twisted version of it because they can and think it 'in the public interest to do that regardless of who you are. Though thankfully laws have tightened up a bit since the days anyone in the media would write about me.

The media should focus on dealing with the real problems of lockdown here not looking for stories by sifting through the rubbish left over each night in the bins of celebrity lives.

Like family kept apart from parents in hospital with Covid whilst the social system tries to find a way to get them home but has no money to do so.

How many thinking what Amanda did here was wrong would have broken the rules if they were being kept away from a parent in distress in hospital they know they might never see again?
I agree with this.

I think most people would have gone.

The rules are there to follow but in exceptional circumstances I’d break them.

No, it wouldn't. But that comes with celebrity status. Dominic Cummings got slaughtered last spring for his jaunt up to Barnard Castle. Rightly or wrongly, you're under scrutiny all the time. You can't go courting the media some of the time, then slate them at other times. The media don't care about your feelings. They build you up, then knock you down.

Not having a go at you, by the way.

Believe me I know. And I would not mind if you were getting at me, This is all about opinions and they are bound to differ based on experience.

I have sadly been there, done that at the hands of more than one tabloid who got about 20% of the story right because I declined to 'help them by speaking up and 'telling the truth' (as in what they wanted to BE the truth).

But as the BBC once told me - you wait and see what this will do to our ratings They were right, of course. But it was galling that this mattered more than truth even years ago. Nowadays I dread to think what truth is any more.

I just hate the way stories are manipulated by both sides for different reasons and what really happened is often barely of much consequence unless it sells papers or can be used to rubbish a rival tabloid who got the story wrong.

Wales vaccination data:

771, 651 first doses given - 22, 206 yesterday - down from 33, 501

4573 second doses - 349 yesterday - up from 214

But why is that? They are begging anyone who hasn't been vaccinated in your mother's group to come forward, even at the expense of deliberately delaying the roll out to younger groups in many areas. What have you done to ensure your mother receives her vaccination? Have you tried to book an appointment online but have been unable to do so?
She is not the only one. Mother in law only got it Friday. If you live in an old pit village in Co Durham the vaccine may not be as quick to reach you. I have spoke to the practice manager who assured me they will get to the last batch of over 80s in the next few days. This is with appointment dates. Just highlighting Boris's will say anything and has no ideas what is going on at ground level. We even have some non essential shops open. Unless of course shops selling local crafts, blinds shops and a shop selling second hand furniture are now classed as "essential". I work as a bus driver and in certain areas we have put on extra services due to demand in the last few weeks.

I take my hat off to you..the figures and time spent posting are amazing..you clearly are a great journalist..the sad truth is that people like yourself who may question matters may be ignored. Keep going and dont give up. We need people like you to present the truth.
