I think last week there was an issue with data and the following couple of days had a catch up of figures iirc. Possibly explains such a large jump today.

Despite that, throughout the week there seems to have been a number of signs of a either a slowing in decline, plateau or even a slight rise in infection data. Too early to jump to conclusions at the moment but it is quite a concern given the numbers here are still very high.
Seems just like back in the autumn that western central belt has stuck at a stubbornly highish level again, while the rest of the country has fallen to quite low levels..

Yes, I had forgotten that. Thank you. Hopefully that is all it is as Scotland has been running a week or so ahead of England so if it is flattening so will England and there are already hints of that.

N Ireland though is still going downward.

N Ireland data:

11 deaths- was 9 last week

176 cases - was 334 last week

At 16.1% positivity - was 19.3% last week

Yeah, I've not seen the regional figures from today but certainly the last few days Ayrshire has been running at near double the total from the corresponding day in the previous week. I know there's an outbreak at bowhouse prison in Kilmarnock but this can only partly explain it. Glasgow and Lanarkshire are plateuaing too. I don't know why they'd stop at this level as Healdplace says when you check Wales and N.Ireland, things seem to still be going in the right direction.

England hospital deaths - by region

85 Midlands. 49 North West, 46 East, 44 NE & Yorkshire, 34 London, 33 South East, 10 South West

25 in Leicester and 21 in Manchester two highest local hospital trust numbers in country today

So deaths today with out of hospital for England to add (always low at weekends) are 331.

3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v today:- 682 v 622 v 454 v 331 today
Definitely going in the right direction fast.

Is it too early to say that we’ll never return to those higher numbers again?

And cases for the three nations today (with England to come) are 1473

3 wks v 2 wk v last wk v Today:- 2424 v 2034 v 1379 v 1473 Today

First rise in a while week to week but Sunday data is often hard to call.
