I didn’t say there was, I said Sage had acknowledged it, be it perceived or real, and built a plan based off having to consider it as a mitigating factor for a successful rollout.

I haven’t seen claims about it specifically regarding covid. I’ve seen it around the vaccine trials but again that’s not covid specific, that’s historical.
Thanks for your response. I’ve got a black mate whose big into his conspiracy theories. He’s reluctant to take the vaccine even though he’s quite a bright guy. It’s hard to tackle when some peole are getting the negativity direct from websites and social media platforms.

FWIW, a ot of people of BAME ethnicity are making an effort and the boxer, Nicola Adams, volunteered at my local GP Practice that’s also a vaccination centre.

I agree mate but it’s a shame more peole don’t look at the here and now. They would see the NHS Directors of Primary Care and People / HR are BAME (in England) and much of the leadership of the British Medical Association has been for many years. There have also been Presidents of Medical Colleges of various ethnicities. Btw Before the last decade or so, the Medical Profession in Britain was dominated by Scots but I won’t hold that against them.

I don’t think it is about the structural side of it tbh, more around some of the previous rollouts and involvement in trials and research.

I did think they missed a trick with the demographic of the AZ one in particular and not just with ethnic background.

Yes and that was part of the plan to get increased take up, it’s not an easy thing to combat unfortunately.

The pharmacists administering the vaccine for the company I work for have all had to have training on how to respond to some of the concerns as they’re facing into it every day. Really not easy for them under such challenging circumstances already.

Wales update:

8 deaths - was 10 last week

275 cases - was 351 last week

5.1% positivity

Weekly Pop Score 88 - down from 92 yesterday and 114 last week

That is the lowest I ever recall seeing a national Pop Score go.

Just after Christmas it was nearly 500 in Wales. And for comparison Greater Manchester right now is around 200.

Wales vaccination update:

795, 927 first doses given - 11, 118 yesterday - down from 13, 158 day before and lowest since 24 Jan.

7251 second doses given - 1849 yesterday - way up on the previous days 829. That itself being the highest ever then. So today a new high by more than double.

So clearly more second doses are being given here and as a consequence reducing first dose numbers available a bit.

But even with that the supply issue is also impacting first dose numbers in Wales today as it did in England yesterday it seems. For Wales was doing 3 times the number of first doses at the end of last week as yesterdays 11K. 33, 501 first doses last Friday for instance.

The question is how we deal with things in the short term - e.g. are you allowed to go on holiday if you've had the jabs, but other members of your family who are younger, haven't?

I think you already know that answer to your own question, bud?

There will be a degree of second-class citizenship across some sections of reopening until you get the jab.

That will probably be confined to travel and gatherings at sporting events, pubs and cinemas.

There has already been huge unfairness through this pandemic, in regards those who have been disadvantaged as a result of one size not fitting all.

However, those who do refuse to get the jab, that disadvantage will be brought upon themselves, so have no right to complain if that is what transpires.
