If the USA hadn’t halted the Oxford / AZ trials then we would have been a couple of months further ahead with vaccinating the U.K. population. I just thought I would mention this because the shoddy performance in the EU is rightly highlighted but the efforts to undermine the Oxford / AZ vaccine started across the pond. Of course US regulators were within their rights.
There is a difference between genuine scepticism or questioning amongst the medical profession and politically driven attempts to undermine a vaccine. That is why ppl commenting need to be careful or you finish up like the EU, plenty of vaccine but few takers.

The young have sacrificed their freedoms to protect the lives of vulnerable people.

Vulnerable people who have been vaccinated should then have to sacrifice their freedoms in return to allow for everyone else to to get their jab.

No way should they be allowed to travel if the young aren’t, just because they’ve been vaccinated before them.
Complete drivel.

So the number of deaths with England out of hospital to come (adds 200 or more mid week from weekend catch up) is:- 364.

Wk to wk

1185 v 1130 v 876 v 739 v 622 v 364

That is a remarkable fall across the month I doubt we would have seen just from restrictions.

The acceleration this week to week also suggests more - as in the vaccine having an impact one might assume.

Where is there plenty of vaccine in the EU?

Cases from the three nations with England to come wk to wk is:-

3844 v 2394 v 1937 v 1462 v 1792 v 1294 Today

So after a slow down and blip upward last week today a good drop.

We can dream of a sub 1000 nation total in the coming days which would be amazing given how much testing we are doing these days compared with the past.

1294 is the lowest 3 nation total in some time.

It isn't petty.

Many have been furloughed or have lost their jobs and stayed at home to protect those who would be first in the queue for a vaccine. A bit toss for those vaccinated to enjoy liberties ahead of those who've been impacted the hardest.

Just implement when everybody has been offered the vacc.
Worse than petty, it is ignorant and mean spirited. Do you not think that everybody had made sacrifices?
Protection of the NHS is/was as important as protection of the vulnerable. 3 million ppl who need treatment for other conditions such as cancer have had to postpone. Some have died waiting. I normally go 4 times a year to hospital for specialist treatment. This year I have had one telephone appointment, end of. Result: constant pain and loss of mobility, but you wont hear me complain.
Think also of grandparents, for example, who have not seen their families for a year. And the middle aged lady who worked at a locked down shop, has she not sacrificed?
I have sympathy for the young, especially in terms of their education, but it is nonsense to suggest that others have not sacrificed so much.
I am guessing from the tone of your post that you are young and feel you and your cohort have given up more than others.
It is not so.

All those 80 year old blokes going abroad. Lucky sods. Especially on top of all those free foreign trips during National Service.
