Coronavirus (2021) thread

Unnecessary post, imo.
Fair enough. I just tire a little of how empowering it can be for kids to get laptops/free breakfast etc. It makes such a small difference And that city are somehow some big philanthropic organisation. I feel it detracts from the bigger issues; how can we have children living in abject poverty a stone’s throw from a stadium where players pick up a cool million a month for kicking a ball?

I know, but probably not the thread for it, and at least we make the effort.

GM scoreboard:

380 - down from 434 - 47.6% of the NW total of 799 - down 90.

Wk to wk: 1243 v 937 v 736 v 832 v 633 v 380 today.

Manchester 72 - down from 83. Pop score up 13 to 9086. Weekly cases 514. Weekly Pop down 5 to 93. Lowest pop score here for many months. It was 993 in September!

Wigan 45 - down from 60. Pop score up 14 to 8376. Weekly cases 352. Weekly Pop down 13 to 107.

Stockport 42 - up from 36. Pop score up 14 to 6732. Weekly cases 273. Weekly Pop down 9 to 92. Another back to back weekly Pop fall takes Stockport sub 100 when two weeks ago it was over 200. But still loses more overall pop score points to Trafford that just has dropped like a stone.

Salford 41 - up from 38. Pop score up 16 to 8477. Weekly cases 259. Weekly Pop down 6 to 100 - just misses going into two digits. Hopefully tomorrow.

Rochdale 38 - down from 55. Pop score up 17 to enter the 9000 club at 9014. Highest Pop rise today. Weekly cases 296. Weekly Pop down 5 to 133.

Tameside 37 - down from 38. Pop score up 16 to 7569. Weekly cases 246. Weekly Pop down 5 to 108.

Bolton 32 - down from 53. Pop score up 11 to 8518. Weekly cases 316. Weekly Pop down 19 to 110. Big week to week fall here.

Bury 30 - up from 24. Pop score up 16 to 8631. Weekly cases 199. Goes sub 200 for first time in ages . Weekly Pop down 8 to 104. Yet another big weekly Pop fall proving the MEN doomwatch stories last week are over. #Qeekly Pop could be in two figures tomorrow.

Oldham 29 - down from 30. Pop score up 12 to 9178. Weekly cases 196. Another going sub 200 weekly cases. Weekly Pop down 15 to 86. Looks like it will be giving Trafford a race for weekly cases and lowest Pop. Never thought that when Oldham was sky high last autumn.

Trafford 14 - lowest GM total in 2021 and lowest in 6 months. Pop score up just 5 to 6634. Lowest GM rise since last Summer. Trafford now 98 clear with best Pop across the pandemic and uncatchable. Weekly cases 159- lowest in GM. But mind the gap others are coming now they are so low there is little left to go! Weekly Pop down 10 to just 67 - best in GM since early September.

Weekly Pop - Borough / Today / Seven days ago / Up/down by Lowest score is best - going down good/up bad

I add the Pop score across the entire pandemic too at the end per 100. This is essentially the percentage of the population in the borough who have tested positive and been recorded. So the minimum immunity acquired that way - if indeed any lasts up to a year by that route. Unrecorded cases, asymptomatic and, of course, vaccinated immunity are all on top of this base number locally.

Rochdale 133 / 168 / down 35 Testing positive 9.0%

Bolton 110 / 205 / down 95 Testing positive 8.5%

Tameside 108 / 169 / down 61 Testing positive 7.6%

Wigan 107 / 157 / down 50 Testing positive 8.4%

Bury 104 / 191/ down 87 Testing positive 8.6%

Salford 100 / 159 / down 59 Testing positive 8.5%

Manchester 93 / 150 / down 57 Testing positive 9.1%

Stockport 92 / 184 / down 92 Testing positive 6.7%

Oldham 86 / 144 / down 58 Testing positive 9.2%

Trafford 67 / 117 / down 50 Testing positive 6.6%

Over six months since GM had four sub 100 weekly pop scores at once.

England hospital regions:

Despite both Hancock and the BBC saying repeatedly in the past hour that there are MORE than 12,000 in hospital and that is too high. It is in fact untrue.

It was NOT 12,000 yesterday as I posted here then and is today even further down and only just over 10,000.

It does worry me that our health secretary and national broadcaster are happy to quote inaccurate data.

UK total Patients : - England 8594 + Wales 891 + Scotland 666 + N Ireland 242 Total: 10,393

UK total ventilators :- England 1417 + Wales 42 + Scotland 64 + N Ireland 27 Total 1550

Total Patients England down 498 today to 8594 and Ventilators down today 37 to 1417
I suspect they are slowing down the release of the data to keep people stIcking to the rules....if we get to less than a score of deaths per day in the coming weeks and hospital cases under 1k there will be pressure to accelerate lockdown easing....

Returns to thread feeling positive....reads about Yellowstone....cries....

In all honesty it’s nothing to worry about. The last 3 larger eruptions from it didn’t wipe out life. Last one was 640k years ago.

your ( as in you personally, not the world ) 3 times more likely to be killed by getting hit by a meteor than Yellowstone erupting.

There’s hundreds of £millions being paid in income tax every year too. Plus, didn’t City pay for a local college or school too. It’s not City’s job to replace the role of the Government either.

I guess the £37bn that has been spent on track and trace would have done more.
