I really do wish Whitty and Vallance would be a bit more upbeat and positive. They are only doing their job but Christ it's as if them and SAGE dont want this to end.

Surely now that 23 million have been jabbed they should start being more positive and confident?
I dont get it, the vaccinations were meant to be the passports to freedom. The unlock is far too slow, crazy that we have to wait another 3 months.
They have been far too pessimistic in their assumptions, modelling, and wider public messaging since last summer.

We know that the vaccines are effected against the most recent 'new variants'. You may also be aware that the creator of the Pfizer vaccine said that the virus was need to mutate many, many more times to render the vaccine ineffective, and that the current vaccines will be adapted very quickly to deal with them (a matter of weeks).
I read that, its the interim period where people will still die to let me have a beer.

.

No, they have not. This is just false. The second wave was, if anything, worse than modelled. Vallance was mocked for projecting 200 deaths daily. We got 1,200.
Wrong, they presented viable scenarios to the public on the eve of the November lockdown where daily deaths hit 2,000 - 4,000.

It's not too slow unless you want cases to massively increase, schools etc to close down etc. As a country we have to be sensible about how we open up as we know the country is full of idiots who ignore what they should be doing. Look at Rangers at the weekend. Vaccinations will be a passport to freedom but people have to have both jabs not just one. April will be carnage as it is with the pubs reopening. i for one won't be rushing back to a pub.

Total cases for the three nations sub 1000 again at 872

wk to wk: 1815 v 1448 v 1389 v 1197 v 861 v 872

Very slow fall to a stall

Will we see an increase in cases now that schools are back?
My 3 year old granddaughter is now isolating (together with my daughter), as she was sent home from nursery yesterday due to one of the nursery staff testing positive. She was seen holding hands with her on the CCTV last Friday. My daughter usually does my shopping, so I'll have to do my own this week. Fortunately, I didn't see them last weekend, but I can see them next week. My daughter is distraught, as she's a single mum.

Dependent on the much vaunted daily ramp up it's possible all over 50's could be done by the end of June which would mean all over 50's having their first jab by April 7 so means second jab 12 weeks away would be the last day of June.
I'm off to Yorkshire for a holiday on June 28th. Will they let me in if I've only had one jab?
